Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Lohoefer.
Matt, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my insurance career in the fall of 1989. I had just moved here from Lubbock, Texas to be closer to my brothers and sisters who all lived in the metro-plex area. I joined Farmers Insurance group and became a licensed agent for Farmers in 1990 opening my own insurance agency. I learned the business and over the next 13 years learned much more about the Insurance world and later decided to leave Farmers and become an Independent Insurance Agent offering my customers “Better Coverage and Better Prices.” My office and staff still live and work by that motto today.
As an Independent Insurance Agent I can offer my customers choices of different companies and along with that comes flexibility in rates and coverage options usually resulting in lower premiums and coverage that customers want and need.
We purchased our own building in 2001 in Plano and now have an established neighborhood Insurance office that serves all of the Metro-Plex and all of Texas.
Our licensed staff still gives the professional personal touch of one on one consultation and advice with easy access to Matt Lohoefer the owner and agent.
Our primary focus is personal lines Insurance with business and life insurance as well. Our website MattInsurance.com provides insight to all of our services, different “A+” rated carriers, and over 50 Five-Star reviews from current customers.
Has it been a smooth road?
We have persevered through the mold issues of the late 1990 that saw all major carriers close down any new Homeowners Insurance. This allowed for the rise of Texas Select and eventually saw all Insurance carriers come back to opening homeowner’s policies again. During this five year period we double our size as we transitioned to becoming an Independent Insurance Agent and offering only the strongest of Independent Insurance Carriers.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Matt Lohoefer Insurance – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Today we are going on our 28th year as a Property and Casualty Independent Insurance Agent serving all of the Metro-Plex. Our main lines of Insurance are for Homeowners, Auto, and Umbrella. We write all of the other lines such as rent homes, RV’s, motorcycles, mobile homes, trailers, renters Insurance, commercial auto and business and of course life Insurance.
Our agency gives the customer that personal touch of one on one conversations to thoroughly explain coverage and provide options for price comparison. We are professionals that make sure all the details are covered both big and small. We do this in a nice family oriented way.
Many of our customers we know on a first name basis and that is different than a 1-800 customer that gets a different person every time they call their 1-800 insurance company. We get to know our customers and make sure that their insurance needs are met, covered, and that a claim is handled and paid when you need it.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Plano is a wonderful city for our growing Independent Insurance Agency. We make sure that we have the right full roof replacement coverage when a hail storm hits your roof. Not all insurance companies do that anymore. Many large companies are offering depreciation roof coverage and that means more money out of your pocket.
We are different. We tell you upfront about full replacement coverage of your roof and home so there are no big surprises later when you file a roof claim.
I have learned and still always want to make sure that I never have to tell a customer “You are not covered for that”
