Meet Matthew and Mandy Miller of Eagle Mountain Family Eye Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew and Mandy Miller.

Dr. Matthew Miller was born and raised in Azle, Texas. He graduated undergrad from Tarleton State University in 2000 along with his wife Mandy. He then went on to attend the University of Houston, graduating in 2005 as a Doctor of Optometry. Coming back to Fort Worth was just like coming home for both of them. He knew that he wanted to provide the best quality eye care with other doctors and staff that had the same passion as he did. In 2010, Matt purchased the practice and began making decisions about the longevity of the practice. This has been something that was a dream for such a long time, and he wanted to ensure that his short term and long term goals allowed the practice to grow into something that was a permanent staple in the growing community of Fort Worth.

Dr. Kendra DeBerry joined the practice in 2009 and has always been a positive influence on the practice with her patients and staff. She has patients that return back to the practice from many other states because of the relationships that she has built over the years. Dr. Avni Gaggar just joined their practice in July of 2017. Her patients love how she answers all of their questions. In 2014, Eagle Mountain Family Eye Care moved just two miles north on Boat Club Road to its new location. The new building provides state of the art equipment that allows the doctors to be able to offer the best eye care available to all of their patients.

With their seven exam lanes, three doctors and an optical that will meet all of their patient’s needs with glasses to sunglasses, they strive to be the best for their patients. Dr. Matthew Miller takes pride in what he along with Dr. DeBerry, Dr. Gajjar, and his staff has created over the last eight years. He looks forward to the future on how Eagle Mountain Family Eye Care can fit all of the vision needs for the Fort Worth/Dallas area.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing has ever been easy on the road to where we are now. In undergrad, he worked 40 hours a week and took 18 hours in school to graduate on time. Mandy worked as well along with taking 18 hours each semester. When he and Mandy moved to Houston, they did not know one single person. His wife, a teacher, was the only one working out of the two of them because of his heavy course load. They had no idea how high the cost of living was in Houston. Money was tight even for gas money to go home to Fort Worth. After three years in Houston, they moved back.

Mandy taught for nine years for Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD before Matt decided he needed her help in the practice as frame buyer, accounts payable, office manager, human resources, and helping the office staff with whatever they needed. They worked together to plan a state of the art practice that opened in less than 6 months (which is unheard of in commercial building) on his dad’s birthday, December 16th, 2014. They had not even built a home, but they put everything they had with a lot of prayers into making the building perfect for their patients and their staff.

The hardest part was making sure there was a balance between work and family. His wife has been his office manager for a little over a year now, and that makes for some interesting days here and there. We just take one day at a time because you never know what tomorrow will bring.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eagle Mountain Family Eye Care – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
With eye care, things are changing rapidly between growing competition and technology that is at everyone’s fingertips. But at our office, our doctors ensure that all of their patients are getting the best care possible.

Our doctors have state of the art technology that ensures that their patients get the best care possible for comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, diabetic eye exams, office visits for eye emergencies, and referrals for Lasik all the way to co-management of retinal diseases and disorders. Our staff has proven to be the best around by being awarded the 2017 Best Eye Care Center by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Our patients love that we will go above and beyond to meet their needs, but they love it even more than we remember who they are.

In our optical, our opticians assist our patients in selecting the perfect frame(s) for whatever lifestyle need they might have with the best lens products available. They take custom measurements for the patient’s lenses and take into consideration other important factors that will get their eyewear perfect. You cannot get that through the internet. We are constantly analyzing our services and products to make sure we are meeting the needs of every single patient.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
At this point, Dr. Miller never dreamed that the practice would be where it is today. So for the future, he hopes that the practice will continue to grow by taking new patients and continue to serve our current patient base. Without our patients, we have and are nothing. They are everything to us. We hope to be more prominent in the community.

We want Eagle Mountain Family Eye Care to be a household name that patients are proud to refer to their friends and family. We want to also work more closely with primary care physicians to be a referral source for them so that they have someone that they can trust with their patients’ eye care needs. We look forward to continue working with Dr. DeBerry and Dr. Gajjar. They are a driving force of the practice that will help us achieve our short-term and long-term goals.
