Today we’d like to introduce you to Maureen Donohue Grable.
Maureen, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in the beautiful southern state of Georgia and moved to Texas in 2001 while working for a French linen and textile company. I always had a curiosity about Texas and took the leap of moving here. I am so glad I did and thankful for all the experiences and friendships I have been blessed with along the way. As a child, I loved digging through my mother’s jewelry box and trying on each and every piece. Jewelry has been a love of mine since childhood. I can remember my sister and me making earrings and bracelets and doing all sorts of arts and crafts when we were little girls.
M Donohue Collection began in 2004 as a side hobby while working in Interior Design and flourished into a business after having my first Trunk Show. Friends and acquaintances inquired how they could purchase, and that launched me into a business that has continued to grow to this day.
In 2007, my (future-at the time) mother in law attended a Trunk Show I was having at a mutual friend’s home and decided that her son and I needed to meet. I never thought that was actually going to happen, but I am thankful everyday that it did happen and for my wonderful and supportive husband and family.
I am Mom to two beautiful girls that are 14 months apart in age. Needless to say, they keep me very busy. My first daughter was born in 2009, and I ended up taking a break from jewelry making for a little bit, but never completely stopped making jewelry. I am fortunate to have amazingly loyal clients that keep asking me about my jewelry and when I am going to have my next show. I have enjoyed sharing the business and the creative process with my daughters and they love to be my “helpers”. I strive to create timeless and wearable pieces for women and little girls. I truly love every piece I make! I find inspiration in art, antiques, travel, and nature.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It is always tough to balance owning your own business. I have worked with several amazing professionals along the way, and have self-taught my way through a lot. The biggest challenge would be the learning curve on e-commerce and social media. I certainly have done a lot of winging it!

I have worked extremely hard to keep up with the ever-changing world of fashion and retail while staying true to what I love and what speaks to my timeless and classic look. I have been so blessed with many opportunities and people willing to encourage and cheer me on along the way.
