Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Curry.
Max, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Max Curry: Having spent 15 years working in the audio video industry for other AV Integration companies, I developed a list of attributes I felt would be foundational to launching the industry’s best AV company. I combined my past experiences and those core attributes into a business plan and set a ten-year goal. During that ten-year period, I had the opportunity of guiding a start-up company through the ISO:9001 processes. That experience gave me all the confidence I needed to execute my business plan, and on February 16, of 2004 at 8:00 a.m. sharp Infinity Sound was born. We started with two employees integrating simple paging and intercom systems in education and commercial spaces. In the early days of Infinity Sound, I sold, designed, and installed the first systems until eventually, we could add personal and take on more complex projects. Infinity Sound has experienced steady growth since and as a result, we are now a 30+ employee company. We design, install, commission, and service AVL solutions for churches, corporate entities, medical facilities, the government sector, educational spaces, performing arts centers, and the list continues to grow along with our reputation of never missing a deadline in over 14 years of operation. We are projecting our revenue to double next year and have plans to continue growing and expanding geographically. Our focus remains the same, quality without exception, and our success is a result of our employees championing that focus on every project we take on. Infinity’s success is a testament to the great people that are a part of the Infinity family, and I am very proud of what we have built together.
Voyage Mag: Overall, has the journey been a smooth one? What were some of the struggles you faced along the way?
Max Curry: It has indeed been a journey, but one that has revealed to us many things over the course of 14 years. For starters, being the new kid on the block is always a difficult path. Opportunities are won or lost on experience, and in the beginning gaining the experience to show you can do a job well can be a struggle that requires time and patients. Another struggle along the way has been finding experienced people to join our team, which is a global challenge in our industry. We face this challenge head-on by providing training and professional development to our employees. By cultivating our talent internally, we maintain an atmosphere of continuous grown strengthening the loyalty our employees feel toward our company.
Voyage Mag: If you could to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Max Curry: Unfortunately, we rarely are afforded the opportunity to go back and undo/re-do the things that have already been done. I could not have run a company this size when I first started because I needed every bump and bruise it took to get here to help me grow into this role. However, having known then what I know now, there are some areas of business I would have focused on sooner than later. Also, I probably would have stressed-out a little less, knowing that the hard work and dedication would pay off.
