Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxx Green.
Maxx, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As far as the working out part goes. I’ve been an athletically inclined kid. My father was a professional boxer and a walk-on for the Cowboys, he used to pick me up EVERY SINGLE DAY to work out for at least an hour and this developed my love of fitness.
In high school, I participated in football, track, and boxing. I actually started personal training while in high school, but it was just my teammates and friends. This taught me how to deal with different personalities and how to properly structure a training session. Life happens, and I found myself incarcerated. One day I had a dream and in that dream, God was talking to and told me that I was to be a personal trainer. This dream was so vivid, I was shown the name of my business as well as told that my ministry is directly tied to health and fitness. I started that next day working out seven days a week 3-4 hours. I started working out so much, that I would actually get in trouble. I was sent to solitary confinement for four months and I went in one way and came out completely transformed. In solitary confinement, we are allowed out of the cell 1 hour a day and the rest of the time is meant to be in your bunk unless you were going to the restroom. This dream kept visiting me, so even though I wasn’t supposed to, I would work out and train. There is a thin slot in which the officers would give us our food, and the officer assigned to my unit would look in. He could see just for himself my transformation. Four months later, it was time for my release. The door was opened, and the officer’s mouth dropped.
“Holy shit Maxx, I almost couldn’t recognize you. What are you going to do now that’s you’re released?” he asked.
“I’m going to be a personal trainer,” I said over my shoulder. I was confident and assured of the assignment God had given me.
I hit the ground running after being released from the Texas Department of Corrections. This is how Madd Maxx fitness came to be.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Surprisingly, the road has been relatively smooth. Once I make my mind up to do something, I do it. The biggest struggle I’ve run into has been building up my clientele. I got out and had to quickly learn how to operate of social media. I hired a Social Media Manager that looked at my metrics and determined what to post based on the needs of my clients. Based on that, I began to reach people who may never have seen the services I have to offer.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Madd Maxx Fitness – what should we know?
Being the owner of Madd Maxx Fitness, I offer personalized training in weight loss, cardio conditioning, and athletic performance improvement. I’m known for my nonconventional style of fusing social media and well as my relatability. One thing that I’m most proud of in building Madd Maxx Fitness is that eventhough the business is only a few months old, I’ve made an impact and have literally seen lives change. The thing that sets Madd Maxx fitness apart from other personal trainers is that I feel like I’m called to do this work. While I’m working out, I feel this spiritual connection that gives me the confirmation that I am doing exactly what it is I’m supposed to be doing I believe that exercise doesn’t have to be a daunting task, I also pride myself on making training sessions fun, yet challenging, educational, and most importantly effective. I love what I do, and they say if you love what it is you’re doing, you’ll never work another day in your life and it’s been about awhile since I’ve worked.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Discipline, Dedication, and Consistency – I think these are three of the most essential characteristic I feel that is most important at Madd Maxx Fitness. A lot of things you do in life requires you to stay the course and fitness is no different. Whether it’s to lose weight, build muscle, or tone, those three traits will give you the results you can see.
