Meet Mazvita James of Goddess Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mazvita James.

Mazvita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I launched Goddess Co. on October 29, 2019. It first started as a project idea two years prior; I was looking for something to invest in that I knew no one else around me was doing -everyone was (is) into selling hair, eye lashes, clothes- and so I wanted to be different; granted, I’m not the only with a Cosmetics line, but not knowing someone personally who was selling eyeshadow palettes, it excited me even more.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I honestly expected, I had a very slow start, because I knew it wasn’t going to be easy starting a business, a Cosmetics business at that. Some main struggles along the way include trying to market my product in a way that can attract customers/people to be like “Wow, I want that”, and purchase right after. A challenge I didn’t expect to run into was having certain people telling me they would do anything to support, but once my business had launched…well….haha, you know how it goes with that one.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Goddess Cosmetics – what should we know?
Goddess Cosmetics specializes in face products; so, so far, we have two eyeshadow palettes. Currently, I’m working on adding foundation, blush, lipstick, lipglosses, eyelashes, and face highlighters. I also started a project under Goddess Cosmetics, ‘A Tribe Named Goddess’, where young ladies and women are able to come on my platform and be comfortable to share whatever’s weighing them down, whatever’s uplifting them, in order to uplift others. I offer Tarot and Guidance Readings on that platform and offer services where I extend a shoulder to lean on or a helping hand.

As a company, I’m honestly proud that I started everything on my own. Usually, someone in this lane would need a whole team behind them, to help them with ideas, connect them with the certain people who’ll probably get them to where they want to be, but it was just me, myself, and I. What sets me apart from others is my ability to actually know what I’m good at, sticking through it, no matter if I’m treading in waters I’m expected to drown in, and always having a purpose for what I’m doing. Everyone these days is just doing just to do.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Customer driven business, so the customers play a hand in the success of the company.
