Hi Megan , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Three years ago, I moved to North Texas and started over.
At the time, I had spent years building an established career and golf coaching business on the East Coast. I had loyal students, strong relationships, and a reputation I had worked hard to earn.
Then I moved to Texas, and suddenly, I was the new person again.
I had to rebuild my network, find places to teach, develop new relationships, and introduce myself to an entirely new golf community. There were plenty of obstacles and moments when things didn’t happen as quickly or easily as I had hoped.
But I kept showing up.
One student became two. One opportunity led to another. I built relationships with facilities throughout DFW, expanded my clinics and programs, and began creating a business that looked different from the one I had left behind.
Today, I am the top-ranked female golf professional in North Texas and run a thriving coaching business helping golfers throughout DFW.
But what I’m most proud of isn’t simply rebuilding what I had before.
It’s what I’ve been able to create because I had to start again.
One of the best examples is a program I created for single women in DFW. What began as an experiment to help women learn golf became something much bigger.
Yes, they learned how to hold a club, hit a golf ball, practice, and become more comfortable around the game.
But golf became the vehicle for something else.
They met new people. They tried things that made them uncomfortable. They built confidence. They created friendships. They discovered new opportunities, and, in many cases, new versions of themselves.
That experience reinforced something I’ve learned through my own journey:
Starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing.
You bring everything you’ve learned, every relationship you’ve built, every failure you’ve experienced, and every bit of confidence you’ve earned with you.
Three years ago, I thought I was rebuilding my golf business.
Looking back, I was actually building the next version of it.
And now my goal is bigger than simply helping people become better golfers.
I want to use golf to create opportunities for people to learn, connect, grow, build confidence, and discover what’s possible when they’re willing to step into something new.
Because sometimes the thing that feels like starting over is actually the beginning of something you never would have built otherwise.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Golf is a male dominated business Texas is known to be a “good old boys club” When I arrived I even had a pro tell me they did not want more women golfing at their club
