Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Minus.
Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a young girl around 7/8 years old, I would record mixtapes from an old tape recorder from the radio, night after night I stuck my Walkman in my pillow to fall asleep to the different tapes because I had such a love for music. I was always a creative, but growing up in the 80’s and 90’s we weren’t taught that there were many career options for us, it was always said “are you going to be a doctor or lawyer?” My dad was and educator and very strict about “book studies” and not the arts or even technology for girls.
I studied Business Management in my early college life, but after a brief period in the field, I quickly realized it wasn’t where I wanted to be, after this I studied Interior Design and architecture. During this time, I met someone and we got married. Very early in, I had my first child and within three months of having her, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My illness forced me the time to stay at home for almost two years as I went through my treatments.
A roller coaster of life ensued, I started an interior design firm, where after a successful first year, a client asked me to design a stage set for an event and not a house is where my love for production began, and all the memories of music and connecting it with lighting and sound, and video made sense. However, mentally I was not in a good place and unable to focus on the business. I had a second child and my marriage was now on the brink of divorce due to abuse and infidelity. Not only was I diagnosed but so were my three sisters, all four women with Breast Cancer, and a few years later the loss of one sister and my dad to Prostate cancer in 2017.
After my divorce, I decided to rebuild my confidence by working with a production firm, not only to gain more knowledge and experience but to prove what I knew I was capable of, eventually entrepreneurship. After six years with the firm and a promised partnership that turned out to be not true, I resigned and in 2018 I started my own production and design firm.
To date, we are an all-female firm with global clients. We build conferences, virtual events, seminars, webinars, concerts for corporate brands in The Bahamas or where ever they require technical planning and production and design. We produce and direct shows from plays, to awards programs, live events.
The goal of Create Serendipity is to educate, empower and support women (and men) to strive for their full potential To choose careers in technology and outside of the normal realm. Eventually, we would like to see more creative curriculum in our education system. It is my goal to write and create the platform that becomes the regulatory standard for my country.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all, I have navigated, cancer, divorce, co-parenting, a failed work partnership, loss of my sister and my dad along the way. There were definitely times I felt like giving up.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

Our understanding of technology and incorporation for interactive experiences is what we do best.
What were you like growing up?
Personally, very curious, creative, a little rebellious. But which creative isn’t? Lol.
I was always interested in music, and I could see colors and designs that weren’t there. Give me an empty pallet and I painted the vision from my mind.
I was always a leader as well, kept to myself mostly, still do, but it gave me the freedom to create and dive into my mind to bring new ideas to the table.
Oh! and I’m a bit of a comic, laughter and being silly will always be a huge part of my life.
