Today we’d like to introduce you to Megi Begaj.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I was always the girly girl I loved anything related to hair and makeup. My mom was a hairstylist my whole life so naturally, I wanted to follow in her footsteps. My high school offered cosmetology as an extra cariculare and I signed up. At first, I thought it would just get me through college. However, things didn’t play out that way. For five years, I worked as a full-time hairstylist at my mom’s hair salon while attending UNT. I got a bachelors in Accounting and Finance and continued to do hair In the meantime. Through these five years, I built an amazing clientele that I adore. They keep me so busy that in February of this year, I opened my own hair salon. It all started on my last day of school instead of studying for a final I had that day. I called up a good friend of mine now buisness parnet and asked her if she wanted to go into buisness together. I had the location lined up and ready I had a few ideas but I still needed verification. I told her my whole plan and she jumped on board. Long story short I am now the proud co owner or M|O hair! It went from being an idea to a reality. We worked day in and day out to make it happen and I couldn’t be happier. Taking a risk can pay off.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been smooth, to say the least! We started out quite rough… from learning how to go about filing for a new buisness entity to trying to build our dream team. We had a vision and we stuck through it. When things went south, I tried my best to let them go and roll with the punches. What I’ve learned from all of this is… it’s never easy but it sure is worth it. The struggle is part of my story but I love every minute of it. Our salon has a story.. we did all the work ourselves… from painting the whole salon to redoing the floors and spending days on end scrubbing on our knees.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with M|O Hair – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full-service hair salon in the heart of Denton Texas. We specialize in color. We are known for our amazing balayage technique and being the top rated salon in Denton! What I’m most proud of my salon are our story and my team. I have an amazing group of young women and I couldn’t do it without them. They are all unique and so incredibly talented. What sets us apart from others would be our devotion to our salon. We started to grow as a team and as a new salon together and we have a bond to create something beautiful and unique.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For my life, there is a lot of change and plans in the next upcoming years. In three months, I get to marry my best friend so life with definitely be a little different. With the support of my soon to be husband and amazing business partner, our plan is to expand and maybe open up another location in the DFW area.
