Today we’d like to introduce you to Mei Yang.
Mei, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started in Arlington High School…. while I was a freshman, the school made us get into electives, so I went ahead and sign up for a Web Design, and Photography class…! Knew after that first year in High School that I would want to be in the Graphic Arts field. After graduating from High School, I went for a Graphic Communication degree in college earning certifications and my degree for Graphic Designs.
I also started taking photography as a hobby in late 2014, and have been photographing part time while going to college. In 2017 alone, I had been published in over 10 magazines (Bridals, Weddings, Beauty Head shots, Fashion). My favorite type of photography is Fine Arts, Portraits, and Beauty Fashion.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been always a smooth road, after finishing HS, I went to college thinking I should do business or medical for a while. After missing about 4 – 5 years in Arts and Graphics field, I decide to go back for the passion that I still have in my heart.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mei Yang Design & Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is actually Graphic Designs and Photography…
In Photography, I do fine art bridals, beauty head shots, portrait styles, and fashion.
I am also a Graphic Designer in my day job.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The good luck role has been playing in my field. After trying out photography, I was able to pick up some gigs, I am still part time photographing as I am heading towards the Graphic Design side.
