Today we’d like to introduce you to Mesha Miller.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Mesha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a REALTOR® serving the entire Dallas/Fort Worth area. Originally from San Francisco, CA. received my B.A from California State University, East Bay and my M.P.A. from California State University, San Bernardino. After a sixteen-year career as an operation professional in the public school system, I relocated to TX, where I became a licensed real estate professional. In addition to real estate, I’m a co-founder of Bridging Black Love, an online platform created to facilitate healthy conversations about relationships between Black men and women. I reside in Fort Worth, TX with her two children. When I’m not spending time with family, you can find me taking dance classes of various styles.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming an entrepreneur as a single mother has been extremely difficult. Transitioning from traditional employment where there’s an expectation of a set pay and benefits to commission based work, has been trying to say the least. Continuing this journey has required a huge amount of faith and resilience. What I wish I knew getting into real estate is that, you have to have money to spend, to make money. Buying leads, marketing, association dues, and monthly brokerage fees can be a surprise for new agents, at least it was for me. There are times when I have to consider taking another full-time job. I hope to one day make this transition easier for new agents.
Please tell us about your business.
Specializing in helping families reach their dreams of home ownership through:
- Pairing buyers with lenders that offer financing that works best for the buyer’s credit and financial situation
- Finding communities and homes that meet the buyer’s budget and needs
- Presenting options for unique real estate needs, such as lease to own programs
- Educating buyers on home ownership so buyers are informed, and feel good about their purchase.
Where other agents may base their level of service on a client’s income bracket, I treat all of my clients the same level of service and respect.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define my success by how each and every transaction leaves my client feeling. Do they feel that they were adequately represented in the purchase or sell of their home? Do they feel that they were listened to, and their needs were met? Would they refer me to their closest friends and family members? People remember how you made them feel, and I keep that at the forefront of my mind in all of my business and personal interactions.
