Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Bolton.
Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was teaching at a martial arts school in Irving. A family that was training there had a talent show at their church that they asked if I could help them with it. We put together a pretty cool demonstration for their talent show and they as a family were amazing. There were a few of the family’s that were in the audience that asked him if he could teach their kids.
He (Juby Alexander) asked me if I would be interested in teaching with him, we prayed about it and moved forward with Integrity Martial Arts.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges when you start a business. But it’s mainly just small things you don’t think of while you’re dreaming of what you’re wanting to create. For the most part, it’s been pretty smooth.
Please tell us about Integrity Martial Arts.
We are a Martial Arts Academy that specializes in American Karate. We have concepts of other martial arts so we can be a more rounded academy. We like to cross train in other styles so we can be as proficient as possible in all self-defense aspects. You can find a martial arts school on any corner. What I feel sets us apart is we truly care more about the person our students are becoming, instead of just focusing on martial arts. If we as instructors fail to teach our students about character and integrity, then we have failed all around.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I believe our proudest moment so far has just been watching our long-time students starting to become leaders within our academy. The older kids are stepping up and really starting to take charge and lead the younger students. It’s amazing to watch a child realize they have the ability and confidence to grow into a leader of people.
