Meet Michael Goldermann of Capstone Films in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Goldermann.

Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from KD Conservatory in 2014 with an Associate of Applied Arts in Motion Picture Production. Soon after that, I started working for the Dallas-based production company, M3 Films, under their internship program and quickly worked my way up to paid freelance jobs. Working alongside the brilliant filmmakers at M3 Films gave me a wealth of knowledge and experience, especially in how to conduct business on the professional level. In 2018, I co-founded the production company, Capstone Films, alongside Producer David James Ryan, a fellow KD Conservatory graduate. Our primary goal for Capstone Films is to produce narrative shorts and feature films but to fund such projects. We produce corporate and commercial content for clients. Our most recent short film, HOLDING ON, was recently accepted to be featured on the online cinema showcase, Film Shortage.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Outside of those who are privileged with inherited resources, I don’t think anybody’s path is a smooth, paved road. I consider myself lucky to have worked alongside good, talented people who cared enough to show me the ropes. It was only six years ago that I was just an unproven freelancer struggling to find work to earn enough income to pay the bills. That was my daily reality and the reality of countless others working their way into the film industry. This is a career that rewards consistent, good, hard work and I was fortunate enough to be allowed to prove my value to a production. I haven’t looked back since.

Please tell us about your business.
Capstone Films is mostly known for producing high level corporate and documentary work throughout the DFW area. Our content has been broadcast on both television and the web. To date, we’ve worked with Texas Capital Bank, the Jim Ross Law Group, and the Kim Dawson Agency, just to name a few. At Capstone Films, we pride ourselves on providing clients with in-house, cost-effective solutions from project development through post-production.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Before the pandemic, we were building out our studio space in Garland, Texas. It was slated to open on April 1st, but that’s been put on standstill for the time being. Our plans for the studio space are to give us the ability to facilitate both film and photography shoots, as well as post-production.
