Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Grayson.
Michael, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started as a musician many years ago and segued into the video world after paying for my artist music videos. I then started a record label and managed artists and did production work on a few artists (Ron C) for profile records of Run DMC fame. I figured that I could do what I was paying someone else for. My first client was George Lopez of DSR fame. After a few years I transitioned fully into the film/video world. I started a web series called “Testimoney” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-xcTF73q20
After this experience, I decided to work on the craft more and started networking and shooting for other producers/directors. I have since been a DP and executive produced on several web series and shorts here in DFW. I started my company Cinexa Digital Media/GraysonVisuals in 2005 and I am now working on several projects in the area.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been consistent and the struggle is real! I wanted to learn all of the aspects of production, so I stepped back and volunteered on as many productions as I could to get a better understanding of the entire process. The biggest hurdle was and is staying up to date on the processes and the changing technology. I did not have a mentor or anyone to show me how it was done initially. Since I’ve been active in the film community that has changed and I can now count many mentors and people who encourage, pray and motivate me to succeed. At this point in the process, I’m of course still learning but the journey is a lot better with quality team work and like-minded friend and the local community.

Cinexa Digital Media/GraysonVisuals, LLC was formed in January 2005. Cinexa Digital Media is a full service Independent Media Production and Consulting organization with offices in cyberspace.GraysonVisuals, LLC. is the creative arm of the overall Cinexa Digital Media brand. We are primarily known for our work as Directors Of Photography, sound and color correction work. I am most proud of the growth and recognition we are receiving as a go to company for production and color correction. I believe what sets up apart is the commitment to quality work and the never ending learning/education process that is required for this type of work. What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having been nominated for several film festival awards and having films I’ve shot win a few awards. The feeling is great and motivates us to strive for even better success. I am currently working on a documentary around the “natural hair” space and it’s taken me all over the country speaking to entrepreneurs and clients that inhabit that space. It’s been a very revealing journey so far.
