Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Harris.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My parents raised my sister and I in Oak Cliff. Most of our formative years were in the Beckley/Saner area of Dallas. I then attended and graduated from Carter High School. Then, on to Grambling State University where I graduated with a degree in Business Marketing. I spent most of my adult life working in education with Dallas Independent School District as a community liaison. I loved working with parents and children. It was very rewarding at times. I got the chance to meet lots of new and interesting people. However, I knew there was more out there for me. Although I have many many many faults, I try to keep GOD at the center of my life. Reading and hearing his word directs me. I don’t always follow those directions but I never stray too far away. There is a vision and a hunger for more. I’m not chasing money but I do want to leave a mark for my family, my children and those closest to me. My goal is to be a blessing to others. A lender and not a borrower.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Has not been smooth. Some of the struggles have included and still do at times doubt- Wondering if I’m going in the right direction. Is this really what I should be doing? What about that job where there was a steady check each month? Insecurity- Am I good enough to do this? Can I really be a lender and not a borrower? Fear- fear of what the future may hold… how the economy may change, etc.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Wisdom Property Inspections story. Tell us more about the business.
My company is called Wisdom Property Inspections. We specialize in commercial and residential inspections. Covering everything from roofing, HVAC, structure, electrical, plumbing, foundation, etc. I’m most proud of the reputation we have gained over the past few years. Integrity, straightforwardness, skill, communication and professionalism is what we take the most pride in and is what differs us from other companies.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure if I believe in luck. God directs me. So, when good things happen, I give honor and thanks to HIM.
