Meet Michael Lee, Andrey Poile, Claire Devenport and Francisco Avalos of Dream House in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Lee, Andrey Poile, Claire Devenport, and Francisco Avalos.

Michael, Andrey, Claire, and Francisco, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Dream House was started as a solo ambient project back in 2013, many of my (Michael) friends would add to my tracks and things remained that way until I started attending college. After that Dream House gained it’s first real members and the band then began focusing on shoegaze. Blur was the first official release from Dream House, and after the EP’s release, the band played many shows around Arlington to promote it. Once we had played a good amount of shows we started recording our upcoming album which we’re currently still working on – “Pretty Lush”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but we’d say that we’ve probably had the same little bumps like any other band. We forgot an amp one time, but outside of that, we did have a lot of tension throughout our first EP. It was definitely good tension though, it helped us understand each other creatively and got some pretty interesting sounds in our recordings.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dream House story. Tell us more about the business.
We’re a little shoegaze band that just wants to make cool music. We take pride in the fact that we’re self-sufficient on the recording side, everything on our first EP was done in our tiny space (at the time). For our new album, everything will be recorded and mixed in our new recording space.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
We’ve had some really good luck finding good spots to rent for recording and rehearsal, and have had great luck with having very smooth shows. It’s nice to not record stuff in a hot garage, especially in the blazing heat of summer – Texas can get pretty hot.
