Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelangelo Comulada.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
If I recall correctly my story in the film industry began 20 years ago. I remember that day when I asked my dad if I could borrow his home video camera so I could make a short film. He lend me his camera and that’s when my journey began in the world of filmmaking. My very first short film began experimenting with my cousins, I enjoyed it so much that I decided to pursue my dream early on by taking acting classes/editing classes in High school. In 2005, I filmed my first feature film titled “The Briefcase” that I shot with my new Home video camera that I had bought. It was then that my work started getting notice and I started receiving several offers to direct local films in the DFW area including my most recent feature film titled “Just Believe” which is now available through Amazon and iTunes.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth ride per say I’ve had my obstacles as most indie filmmakers do when starting off in this industry. I would have to confess my biggest challenge has been learning how the film industry operates where it can be profitable enough to be able to make a living off of it. This has been my biggest challenge but overall a challenge that I can honestly say I have enjoyed passionately.
Please tell us about Macsfilm Productions.
My wife and I founded our company Macsfilm Productions in 2012. Our company specializes in Photography & Videography services, Portraits, Headshots, Wedding pictures as well as videos, special event videos, music videos, commercials and feature films. One of our biggest accomplishments that we are very proud of was when our film Just Believe was picked up for distribution and released on Monday, June 27th, 2016 on iTunes and Amazon.
Another previous accomplishment that we are also proud of was back in 2008 when one of our short film “Snap” won Grand Prize for the Canon / Video maker 2008 National Short Video Contest.
What sets us apart from other? In regards to our Photography & Video Services I would have to say our creativity, our great service and professionalism. In regards to our feature films, our goal is to produce high-quality stories that are unique and different.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would try to socialize with more people in the industry. Not to over think things too much. Sometimes overthinking holds us back and we end up doing nothing. Last, educate myself as much as I can about the industry.
I don’t think luck has been a factor in the success of my career. I think perseverance, determination, courage and hard work has been the main factor for my success.
