Meet Michelle Clark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Clark.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Creativity was always something that felt authentic for me. My experimentation with style and makeup started as soon as I was allowed by my parents to indulge. For me, it was a way to express my individuality. After high school, I completed my aesthetics license and dove into skincare which is now so vital to my process. Ultimately I missed my true passion of artistry. My dream of working for the most prestigious makeup artistry company at the time came to fruition. Throughout my journey, I was so fortunate to develop my skill set and hone my ability for genuine connection. I am an incredibly blessed wife, and mother whose dream was to live in the moment, enjoy my family, find true work/life balance and above all ENJOY my craft as a freelance makeup artist. I’m so thankful this journey has led me to work with and befriend many talented industry professionals. I’m so excited to see what the future holds.

Please tell us about your art.
As a makeup artist, I get to fulfill two of the most inspiring aspects of my trade. Connecting with people on a personal level and utilizing my creativity. Every interaction with a client for me is with full intention to create a relationship and ultimately represent their vision. Most of my work on my clients is for very significant life events, and I’m grateful and excited to play a small role for their occasions. My work includes artistry for print, film, event, and my personal favorite, bridal. I’m definitely a romantic, so I indulge in all of the love-filled wedding sessions!

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Financial challenges or concerns can absolutely hinder the drive and ability to pursue a creative path. Especially with a family, it can be a very hard decision to let go of stability. Having people who believe in you and support you is immensely important. My husband has always been my rock and biggest fan. I’ve just celebrated my year anniversary of leaving my career of fifteen years in pursuit of my dream of being my own boss. My advice is to keep the focus on what that innate urge, what you truly desire, and sometimes (like for me) closing your eyes, having faith and taking that leap!
