Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Hollie.

Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hair has always been a fascination of mine. The smallest details and interaction with people is my entertainment. To have pure satisfaction of knowing you can alter a client’s look to feel more confident. I moved from Wichita, KS eight years ago to pursue my dream career in the hair industry, which it took time to build my clientele. But with any task, patience is key. I currently have a salon suite in Addison, TX. The next step will be a full service salon. I am a motivational fire cracker with a flame for success!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest thing in the Cosmetologist industry is all the different directions you can go in. Rather its make-up or facials or nails. You have to find your niche and master one craft at a time. I tend to try and learn so much at once that I get overwhelmed sometimes. But I have to take one step back and evaluate my strengths. I struggled with cutting men’s hair at the beginning. But once I found my technique and ways that worked for me. It opened so many more doors because I could be more versatile with my clientele. The worst feeling to me is to turn someone down for a service like a haircut, Practice your craft so you can help everyone.

Michelle Hollie Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets me apart from other stylist is my emotional attachment. I genuinely care about my clients. I remember lots of key moments and stories that we discuss. When I perform a service. I expect to not finish until my client is 100% satisfied. Currently I specialize in haircuts and custom color extensions. With the industry constantly changing I love to try new looks. I often challenge my clients to switch up their looks! The environment of the salon suite is phenomenal. It’s relaxing, inviting and trendy! Comfort seems to be a luxury in itself.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being a business owner is the proudest moment ever. When you provide a service to a client. The physical action is 100% yours. You are not selling a T-Shirt that was made in another country. The effort, conversation, and look is dependent on you.
