Meet Michelle Hoover of Unbound Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Hoover.

Michelle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was 17 years old, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. That diagnosis completely rocked my world. Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune disease of the thyroid, and I experienced chronic fatigue, debilitating stomach pains, panic attacks, fainting spells, anxiety, unstable weight, and more. It was a time in my life when I supposed to be having fun, going off to college, and feeling young, but I found myself sleeping for 18 hours a day and feeling like I had zero drive.

Things only got worse as I got into college until I finally had enough. I slowly began to discover the world of healing through a real food, holistic lifestyle and began dipping my toes in the water with gluten-free living, a paleo diet, and an autoimmune protocol template, as well as functional medicine. It took time to see results and for me to shift my mindset, but I went from being a chronically ill person to being so passionate about the life that healed me that I had to start my own business around it!

I took my bachelor’s degree in Emerging Media and Communication from UT Dallas to start my blog, and got a certification from the Nutritional Therapy Association to get more experience with nutrition. Nearly three years later, my recipes and story have touched well over a million people!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been anything but a smooth road. Not only have I struggled with my own health, but getting noticed in the blogging world takes time.

I’ve struggled with balancing my past fulltime job, my personal life, and my business, and sometimes still do. Though it’s a huge time investment, it’s still worth it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Unbound Wellness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
UnboundWellness.com is a blog that’s all about healing with real food! I share about how I manage my autoimmune disease with diet, and write recipes for a Paleo, autoimmune protocol, and Whole30 template.

Even though the autoimmune protocol is a small niche when compared to others, my recipes has still gained a lot of attention and my blog was nominated for the Best Paleo Food Website of 2017 in the Paleo Magazine Best of Paleo!

What sets my blog apart from others is the type of recipes that I share. I specialize in healing recipes that are fun, comfort foods and easy to make! Some of my most popular recipes are sweet potato chicken poppers, veggie nuggets, and turmeric fat bombs.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now, the future looks like creating more and more content to serve my community, as well as grow it!
