Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Ibañez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At age 41 by then I had raised three sons, finished a BA in Arts on Psychology and working for corporate world. The 9 to 5 and just living life according to my work schedule had brought me to reach a point to where I was suffering from depression and anxiety. At that point, I have had enough and got the treatment I needed, started practicing meditation at the Kadampa Meditation Center now in Dallas and decided to follow my dream of becoming my own boss. To do something that would help me feel good and help others like me suffering from stress and anxiety.
I have been living in Texas for about two years and the climate had changed my skin completely. Having moved from Puerto Rico, a tropical island in the Caribbean to Texas really took a toll on my skin as well. So that’s when I decided to train as an Esthetician and I chose Ogle School of Hair Skin and Nails in Arlington. From very early on, people would ask me if I had done this before because I was a natural at it. When I started practicing facials on real clients at school their feedback really boosted my confidence. Back then I still wasn’t sure what I would do after I graduated I knew why I had gone there to train but how could I start my own business with no money?
So I did what most of us do once we graduate and looked for a job. I worked for a spa for less than a year and the experience led me to open my own business once I’ve saved up enough money I was ready to start doing my own thing. Scared like crazy and uncertain of what the future would bring I started my journey.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are ups and downs and I have questioned so many times if this was the right move. But then I sit and take time to read my client’s reviews online and that inspires me to keep going.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Suite Little spa story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize skin conditions like Aging, Pigmentation, Acne and Rosacea. I offer advanced skin treatments to help her clients achieve their best skin ever. Now I am combining modern wellness treatments like body wraps and Infrared Sweat therapy to burn calories, deepen sleep, improve skin, lift moods and change lives. When you come in to my suite expect to ways be greeted with a smile. After a client consultation, I recommend and customize a face treatment for my client. My face treatments include two enhancements that I recommend, the options I offer are Microdermabrasion, a professional peel, Microcurrent (non-surgical face lift), LED light therapy, high frequency, ultrasonic therapy and Beard therapy for Men. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck had no role in this, for me it has been about believing in myself and focusing on my dream to be my own boss and have the freedom that I’ve always wanted to be able to spend time with my family and travel and see the world has been my best reward and in that sense, I guess you can say I’m lucky but I like to say blessed.
