Meet Michelle Mashburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Mashburn.

Michelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My brand GKA (Girls Kick Ass), started back in 2013. I’ve always been into fitness, both teaching and just working out for myself. So I wanted to create something to empower women to be strong, powerful, and confident. And through a conversation I had with my daughter, Girls Kick Ass was created. It is a lifestyle brand that shows how important being fit and living a healthier lifestyle can create confidence, increase self- esteem and make you feel powerful in everything that you do. GKA is a way of expressing that in a way that gives women the freedom to connect with each other through fitness or in any other area of life, to inspire each other to keep shredding barriers and Kick Ass!

I’m in the process of creating a women’s fitness clothing line, as well as opening a GKA boxing gym. I’m also currently teaching an Xtreme Hip Hop step class at JamBox Frisco.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are always curve balls thrown at you. It’s called life! I went through a divorce, moved to another city, then decided to move to Dallas. The work that I was doing with GKA had to be put on hold until I got my life situated, but now I’m in a good place and I’m back on my grind.

Please tell us about your business.
My company is GKA (Girls Kick-Ass). It is a lifestyle brand that empowers women to be strong, powerful, and confident. I am a personal trainer, spinning instructor, boxing instructor, and an Xtreme hip hop step instructor. I think the name of my brand says it all! Girls truly do kick ass in whatever we choose to do; that is what makes me proud. I’m all about supporting and uplifting other women, I think that’s how it should be. When women come together, we can do anything! Again, I think the brand name sets me apart from other brands because it speaks volume. I’m also currently teaching an Xtreme Hip Hop step class at JamBox Frisco.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I can’t say that I would do anything over again. Life is all about living and learning. If I were to go back and do something different, I might not be where I am today.
