We’re a local and family-owned business created with the goal of not only supporting our family but many more…
Our vision is to grow the business so we can provide well-paying jobs, along with a professional trade for other refugee families.
My husband, Shahin and I know first hand the severe struggles refugees face both before and after coming to this country. Shahin came to the United States as a refugee himself in 2015 and we met when he started volunteering in the non-profit I (Michelle) was working with for nine years, living among and serving refugees.
It was love at first sight… Though we were from 2 totally different cultures, we had so many things in common. We got married in 2016 and now have a sweet little girl, Ruby.
We are so thankful for this business opportunity and pray it will be a benefit and blessing not only to us but to our customers and future employees too.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a lot of fun working together as a couple, but not easy either…
As business partners, we have to be the one to correct each other, point out mistakes, play devil’s advocate, etc. so it isn’t always easy. We try to be as nice as possible when we say, “honey you missed a spot” or point out tiny details the other one did not see.
But it has been a great opportunity to improve our patience, and communication skills with each other and learn true teamwork in both our marriage and our business.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Shine On DFW – what should we know?
We have enjoyed working with a variety of customers, both residential and commercial cleaning both interior and exterior windows.
My husband’s favorite part of the job and his specialty is exterior & tall windows. It is really satisfying at the end of the day to help our customers by cleaning the hardest to reach windows and sometimes windows that they have never cleaned and could not reach on their own.
We are thankful for the 40-foot water fed pole system that allows us to clean up to 4 story windows without using a ladder or a lift. Our pole system really sets us apart and helps us work more efficiently too, which allows our prices to stay competitive too.
We also carry a two million dollar insurance policy, to protect everyone involved from any unexpected accidents.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Our attention to detail and safety precautions. And I think people really enjoy working with a family owned and local business.
