Meet Mikaya Gent of Kaya Kreatez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikaya Gent.

Hi Mikaya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My grandmother always told me that I came into this world fighting, but now I don’t need to fight anymore. I am an Afrocentric authentic Dallas Native female who enjoys pushing, motivating, and inspiring children, women, and men to look beyond their traumatic experiences and really know themselves. I wasn’t always like this, matter of fact, I was the quite opposite. I had a difficult beginning. I dealt with domestic violence, bullying, self-esteem issues, being a loner, and being an outcast. As I got older, I realized that everything I had been through is what made me stronger. Being bullied was one of the hardest things that pushed me to be a Motivational Speaker. What were my outlets? Volleyball, singing (although I was shy), writing, and old-school music. Once I got into college, I understood that what was suppose to hold me back and hurt me was actually preparing me into who I would become today.

Today, I am a graduate of Philander Smith College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. I have a business called Kaya Kreatez (LLC in the making), that inspires women, men, and children who are dealing with traumatic experiences to overcome and know thy self; providing services and consultations, body butter, and more. I am a Published Author of a workbook called “Holistic Ascension: Work Through, Grow Through, Self-Healing Workbook,” which shows you how to take a deeper look into yourself to understand who you are. I have book collaboration on the way that talks about poverty and the dangers behind it. I am a Certified Self-Love Development Life Coach and Motivational Speaker. I am looking to create a non-profit within this year that will service alternative solutions that will change the continuous suppression and stigma of those who are dealing with poverty. Lastly, the second book that I am collaborating with is call Fighting Poverty with Co-Author Allan Jones.

I am chosen to do the work to help my people become free. The person I am today is strong, of light, is radiant, vibrant, social butterfly, beautiful inside and out, and knows herself. I am authentic and free to be me. I am Mikaya.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It always hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s not suppose to be. I went through a lot of obstacles. When I first came out with Kaya Kreatez in 2020, I had everything written out and perfect of what I was going to do. Once I started adding the wrong people in my circle to direct me, I started listening to their alterations of how to make my business more available to the common target market. I started assisting them with their business, which ultimately pushed my focus off mine. It took me some time to realize that I didn’t need them nor their opinions.

Next, playing volleyball in college. I love telling this story because it showed me how resilient I can be.

I played volleyball my freshman and junior year of college. My freshman year, I was dealing with my mom’s sickeness, so I was driving home from Little Rock, AR to Dallas almost every weekend to make sure she was good. So, in my sophomore year, I just assumed volleyball wasn’t for me anymore, and I can go and do whatever I wanted. I didn’t understand how volleyball was really disciplined, pushing me, motivating me to wake up every morning at 4:00 am just to get to practice at 4:45 am to put in work 5 hours a day. It was building me to be persistent, to climb above the odds. So, the second semester of my sophomore year, I told the coach that I wanted to play. At first, she was like hell no. Then she came back and said, “In order for you to earn your scholarship back and play for this team, you have to put in more work than you use to.” That was go time for me. That’s all I needed to here. So, for 9 months, I busted my ass, changed my bad habits, my circle, I changed my demeanor, my attitude, I got up early (Hell would beat all the girls there), I did everything I could to be a better me. I realized then that I was competing with my younger self, the one who gave up easily, the one who didn’t believe that she could do it. But to see me now, a volleyball coach teaching young ladies how to not only play volleyball but the mental capacity one has to have in order to survive, to win. I am truly blessed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kaya Kreatez?
Kaya Kreatez’ mission is to push young children, men, and women to look beyond their traumatic experiences and find who they are. My mission is to shift their paradigm of how they feel about themselves and get know themselves a little deeper. Your inner child is still waiting for you to open up to it. It’s a lot of things we hold on to like triggers, bad thoughts, negative thinking, bad endings with friends and family, things from the past. As we get older, we tend to create this version of ourselves who doesn’t want to experience those things anymore, so we become closed off or close minded. I’ve learned that it’s apart of nature, and life happens. But when you change your negative to positive, or you have a different understanding of what’s going on when dealing with a situation, you learn how to handle things a bit differently. Kaya Kreatez’ mission is to provide self-love, confidence, awareness, care, accountability, affirmation, meditation, and purpose.

I am known for motivating and providing love and energy. I love to hype someone up! I enjoy to boosting their confidence and enlightening them to look beyond what they usually think. Providing that different perspective. I am also known for Kaya Kreatez ‘Smooth Like Butter’ Lotions and my Holisitic Ascension Workbook.

What sets me apart from different brands is that I am authentic and creative. I created and produced my own website, programs, self-healing workbook, and own line of lotions for hair, nails, skin, and body.

I most proud that Kaya Keatez is only the beginning, we’re in the process of expanding and providing more for those who need that energy boost and alternative perspective.
