Meet Mike Reed of SAFE Solutions in Hurst

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Reed.

SAFE Solutions began when Mike got really sick of retail management… literally, with pneumonia.

Mike was tired of working long hours for salary pay, and never having the flexibility and time to dedicate to his family.

One day, Mike had enough. He decided to start something new!

SAFE Solutions was started in 2009, and was officially licensed in 2011 by the Texas Department of Public Safety: Private Security Board under license number B17757 with Mike as the acting Owner/Manager.

Throughout the years they have continued to hire and train new installers, finding a niche in the market for the physical work that most sales based alarm companies cannot provide.

Through hard work, constant continuing education courses and training classes, on-site audits and inspections they are able to maintain excellent standards with over 20 contractors nationwide.

This level of service has also started to lead them into the warm market for friends and family as they traditionally do not sell their services “door-to-door” or by “cold calling”.

Many of the referrals they receive are from clients or contractors who either:

A) Have sales teams building new client sales, but may not be able to manage existing client service base or new installations. Many of the companies have in-house technicians and contact us for overflow or “extreme” cases requiring professional attention.

B) They are there to help in case they do not provide the service the customer is requesting. (I.E. alarm but not cameras, or automation, etc.)

A lot of companies these days offer a basic kit: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc… And cookie cutter pricing, with long term contracts and pricing restricted by credit checks.

They prefer to provide a free estimate or custom quote, and then honor that quote by providing the same quality and service that they would their own families.

Their installers all sport their fancy uniforms with logo and name badge serviced weekly by Aramark to ensure they look, feel, and smell great!

They’ve worked long and hard to get trained and licensed!

All of their installers have received training in house, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience before licensing.

All techs have performed drug consent and release forms along with full FBI background checks, fingerprinting, and carry state licensed pocket cards with insurance above the minimum state requirements of $1,500,000.00 commercial auto liability on their vehicle as well as $1,000,000.00 general liability per occurrence (per year aggregate = 2,000,000.00) with a $0 deductible.

They work hard to make sure their customers don’t have to worry about anything, and can feel SAFE!

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been a fun drive, whether smooth or bumpy. We have run into many obstacles with licensing, growth, and learning how to best find and service our A & B clients.

We have changed from using 1099 subcontractors to now hiring W2 employees, moved from solely offering installation and service for 3rd party contractors to building our in house clients and brand, and continue to grow and change every day.

I love the fact that Dallas is always growing and topping the lists for new job growth, economic performance, and is a wonderful place to live, eat, and work!

My biggest dislike of Dallas is the traffic, but as with any large city that is growing we all just have to learn to leave 15 minutes early and drive safely!
