Meet Milly Liss of Magnificent Advanced Aesthetics in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milly Liss.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Milly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in El Paso, Texas but in the first years of my life, I lived in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. From a young age, I learned that life is hard. My tasks were to clean at home, go to school and work in my father’s business. I did not understand why I could not lead a normal life like my friends and not be able to play and have fun like them.

My father used to leave the house to work before the sun came out and returned at sunset. My parents always taught me to work very hard to achieve something that I really wanted. Since I was a child, I had the nature of caring for people. I liked to help people when they felt ill. I remember at an early age my sister got sick and I helped during her recovery.

But what I think that marked my life and helped me define my desire to get into a medical career to help others was when my little brother aspirated a pill and he stopped breathing. I saw my mother’s reaction, wanting to revive him but not knowing what to do. I tried to help my mother to help him breathe. I saw how medical personnel acted to help him.

My plans were to stay in Mexico to study dentistry to make people look their best with a beautiful smile but my parents decided to move to El Paso, Texas. My transition to the United States was very difficult, mostly because of the language barrier. I went through a lot of work, shame and humiliation because of my Hispanic heritage. Some instructors in school couldn’t understand how a Hispanic girl could have better grades than a person who grew up and spoke English perfectly. Due to their disbelief and distrust, they were a little harder on me. It was a substantial amount of work to obtain my nursing degree. One day I received some feedback from one of my nursing instructors stating that it would be impossible for me to become a nurse because of my language, writing, and pronunciation. As I stated before, English is not my first language. Her words made me want to give up and walk away as those words really got to me.

After that, my favorite instructor saw me leaving school and she stopped me asking “Milly, where are you going? We are still in class.” I told her that I was leaving, that I gave up, that I quit and I will never become a nurse. My dream of helping people and my spirit was broken because of words the other instructor said to me. She talked to me and encouraged me to stay and not to give up. She saw in me what the other instructor could not, and provided me with the support that I desperately needed at that moment, leading me to continue and fulfill what I felt was my calling. She may not know how much she helped me at that moment or that I needed help the most at that moment, but she said the words that gave me the strength to continue to achieve my dreams and I became a registered nurse. I learned from her to fight and to never give up, while also teaching me that dreams are achieved if one really wants to continue fighting for it.

Right now, I am a practicing registered nurse and am in my transition to get my degree as a family nurse practitioner, Master of Science – Nursing, FNP MSN.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything that is worth doing will be difficult, that is for sure. I cannot say it has been easy! The hardest part has been all of the training and travel, which requires me to be away from my daughter. I have had the opportunity to train with many great, talented professionals through the years, but in order to take advantage of those opportunities, I have had to leave my daughter behind to do so. There have also been countless hours invested in learning the techniques and honing my skills. It is rewarding to learn all of these things, and with the support of my family and friends, I have been able to do this. It is hard being away from home, so the most difficult aspect of all of this has been the difficulty of being away from them.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Magnificent Advanced Aesthetics – what should we know?
Magnificent Advanced Aesthetics is where you want to go for all of your medical aesthetics needs. We are skilled in medical injectables such as Botox, dermal fillers, skincare, facials, microneedling, fibroblast, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) treatments, male and female sexual enhancement, Polydioxanone (PDO) threads (also known as the non-surgical facelift) and mesotherapy, to name a few. The training I have had and the attention to detail makes my work second to none. Magnificent Advanced Aesthetics is best known for “Milly’s Magic Hands.” I have been told that most of the procedures I perform are done in such a way that discomfort is minimized, healing time is reduced and results (when following up treatments as suggested are done) are breathtaking. We also will not perform a procedure if it is not necessary or what is best for the person, as we are not here to take advantage of people. We want to help people enhance their beauty and feel better about themselves. Never will we suggest a procedure or follow-ups that will not yield results or take the patient on the path to the results they are looking for!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
A characteristic that I feel is most important to my success is the genuine care that I have for people and my desire to help people find the best in themselves. I found that helping someone feel younger or more vibrant and beautiful helps them feel better and happier. I did things like simply complimenting my patients on how nice they looked or calling them “beautiful.” Little things like that really brightened their day. I looked to explore that further and found my way into aesthetics, where I am able not only tell someone that they are beautiful, but I can actually help them take steps toward being that person they really want to be when they look in the mirror. Enhance their beauty! The procedures I have learned about and provide in my practice are amazing and yield wonderful results in most cases, and I continue to learn more as often as possible. People have things about themselves physically that they want to change or enhance, and I am able to help make those dreams a reality. Being able to touch people in a way that makes them feel better about themselves is rewarding in so many ways! One of the first responses that impacted me the most was a card from a beautiful lady and she wrote, “ Milly Thank You for putting a new shine on this old girl! I will send you blessings every time I look in the mirror” Upon receiving and reading this note, I realized how much I love aesthetics.
