Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimi Robinson.
Mimi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my personal fitness journey about ten years ago. I gained over 30 pounds at the time dealing with depression and going through a tough break-up after being in a ten-year relationship. I realized at that moment I needed to make some major changes and it all had to start with me by holding myself accountable and falling in love with myself all over again.
Fitness became an outlet for all of the negative things I was dealing with in my life at the time, I found that one trainer that motivated me to want to become a better version of myself. At that moment that’s when my passion and love for fitness grew into me wanting to motivate women of all ages to love themselves and to be health inside and out. So I decided to become a personal trainer/group fitness instructor over four years ago and it’s something that I fell in love with. I started my business because fitness is something I truly love but I also love motivating other women of all ages and all races to become a better version of themselves and to practice self-love. I’m still growing my business and learning more each and every day, I want to eventually open up a small studio to hold affordable personal training and group fitness sessions for men, women and children no matter the age or the fitness level. Just looking at my pictures from ten years ago people still don’t believe it was me nor than I’m a tender young age of 42 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not fitness is a very competitive industry and a lot of times I’ve wanted to just give up. Struggles of having inconsistent clientele, dedicated clients that want to put in the work and remain committed to there goals, training locations, etc. I’ve faced a few challenges along the way and I’m still working on my brand. It’s all a work in progress and definitely something I will continue to work hard for.
Alright – Tell us about your work. What should we know?
Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. I offer personal training sessions and teach group fitness classes for all age groups and fitness levels. I think what sets me apart from a lot of the other trainers is my age lol like I said I’m 42 years old people ask me my age and can’t believe it when I tell them how old I am. I always get the comments WOW I would never believe a woman your age would be a personal trainer and I tell them baby believe it.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family of course have always been my main cheerleaders and support system, my loving husband Dominic he’s always told me to go for what I want and to never give up and my personal trainer/mentor Destiny her IG(fitnessbydestinyllc) I give her a lot of credit for keeping me motivated when it came to my own fitness journey and pushing me to become a trainer.
