Today we’d like to introduce you to Missy and David Parrish.
Missy and David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Our story starts when we were married, moved away from our home states to serve in the US Navy and raise a family. We both came from families that knew the importance of each other and spending time together. Raising three boys active in school, church and sporting activities kept us on the go and engaged with families. We thrived on becoming more involved and being part of any opportunity we could to bring people together through organizations.
Years later, once our three boys were grown and off to college to start their own future. Dave and I knew that our opportunities to bring people together were diminished. No more activities to bring the ones we have become to know like family together.
We had both attended weddings as a guest over the years. In the beginning, the thought would have never crossed our minds about owning a wedding venue. Then one day, as we sat with our boys, the idea came to our minds;” wonder what it would be like to own a venue”? We knew the importance to us about bringing people and families together, and what better way than through weddings.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
God put before us the perfect property for his plan to own a wedding venue. Were there struggles finding the perfect property? We did come across a few speed bumps along the way. Actually, our first property we thought “was the one” fell through in the buying process. We were devastated as we just knew this was the perfect building and land for our new dream! We were so admittedly wrong.. Two months after the fall out with the once “perfect building”, we were once again with our boys and came across on Zillow the now “perfect one”! We purchased a European style home that we needed to transition into a venue.
Since buying and closing on our beautiful Villa in the spring of 2018, we have put in countless hours of hard work, improvements, buildings and building a family business. Together as a family, we worked hard together to build our now “hidden gem venue.” The transition of someones’s home to a venue happened in just months! The importance of family working together, sweating together, and dreaming together is, above all the most important to us!

Stoney Ridge Villa is a unique Mediterranean Spanish style wedding event venue located just minutes of Fort Worth. We host all types of events from reunions, anniversary’s, quinceanera’s, and specialize in weddings. We are known for our uniqueness. We have some of the most beautiful architecture you will find in a venue. Some say we are a “destination wedding venue or a hidden gem”. Our views are stunning and overlook downtown Fort Worth. The perfect picture spots are endless. Finally, you will definitely get the family friendly feeling as soon as you walk through our doors.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up Dave and I was both very shy and reserved. We had friends but kept a low profile. We both were involved with our church and limited school activities. Our first time to leave our home state is when we joined the Navy. Now we love to travel and explore the world together!
