Molly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Benbrook Stables originated in 1957. My Family purchased the Stables in 1998. We have built it into a family orientated equestrian center, known around the world. Our visitors come to ride the Texas trails from Australia, Japan, the UK and even right here in Texas. When you travel to Texas, we are the destination to experience a true Texas day with horses.
Trail rides around Lake Benbrook, lessons, boarding, birthday parties, weddings, corporate retreats, team building, and fundraisers are just a few of the activities we have available to the public.
Besides offering everything that has to do with horses, we also offer a few activities that do not. If you are interested in just touring the facilities, hosting a party, wedding or family reunion, we do that as well.
With access to over 30 miles of designated horse trails around the lake, and a string of approximately 25 head of lesson and trail horses, we can accommodate parties of any size party, on the trails. Whether you and your friend, family or entire company want to come out for a ride, we can make it happen.
Has it been a smooth road?
Purchasing the property was the easy part. Having to overcome a reputation left behind by previous owners proved to be a little more difficult. The 100 acres was left in almost complete ruins. Refurbishing the buildings and cleaning the facilities went smoothly. Rebuilding the reputation has taken years. Now we have an outstanding reputation not only within the equestrian community, but also with local schools, wedding consultants, and with travelers from all over the world. They love the horses, the staff, and the facilities. We have worked very hard to make Benbrook Stables a premiere destination for anyone that enters our gates.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Benbrook Stables – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are the oldest and largest equestrian facility, that offers so much to the public, in Fort Worth Texas. We specialize in giving people a great first experience on horseback. We are so proud of the fact that whether you have ridden your entire life, or it is your very first time on horseback, everyone has a great time. Our horses are not the nose to tail type trail horses you may encounter at other trail riding facilities. Our horses are gentle enough for the first time rider and yet still fun to ride for the advanced equestrian.
As a company, we are most proud of the fact we have the ability to give back. The Stables is a wonderful venue to host any type of fundraiser, so we like to offer it to as many causes each year, as we can. We love Make a Wish and St. Jude Children’s Hospital and we try to raise as much money as we can through trail rides and functions every year.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Fort Worth is the biggest little town in the world. We love everything about Fort Worth. We are close enough to run over to Dallas any time we need to experience the “Big City” life, and then head right back home.
