Meet MollyKate Cline

Today we’d like to introduce you to MollyKate Cline.

Thanks for sharing your story with us MollyKate. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My fashion journey started when I was nine years old, and I lost my father to suicide. This was a very dark time in my life, and I was looking for an escape. That’s when I asked for my first sewing machine and taught myself how to make clothes! I became motivated to do more with my life, and make my dad proud. I started making collections in high school, and then by the time I got to fashion design college, I was showing at Fashion Weeks across the country including New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix and DC Fashion Week. I now run an online clothing shop, blog and soon, podcast! I am a sustainable designer, so all of my fabrics are biodegradable, and new this year, I’m partnering with an organization to plant one tree for every clothing item sold in my shop!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles along the way include how much I’ve decided to share my faith as a Christian. I’ve found that my faith is what inspires me most, but I was nervous to put that out into the fashion industry. There aren’t a lot of designers (if any) that I know of that are sustainable/eco-friendly and explicitly Christian. So navigating this has been foreign territory. Once I showed my collection ‘Story of God’ on the runway in NYC, I had an overwhelming amount of love, support, and amazing praise. This is what made me realize that sharing your faith IS important! And there is a niche for it!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a sustainable and faith based fashion designer known for my Christian inspired designs and my fashion work for Focus on the Family’s ‘Brio Magazine’. What makes me stand out is my faith, along with my passion for sustainability and commitment to plant trees for every purchase made in my shop. Our 1:1 business model we’re launching this year is definitely what makes me stand out from other designers.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humbleness….. The fashion world can be so easy to get caught up in, but I need to remember where I came from, who created me, and the work I was put on this planet to do.
