Meet Moneque Esters of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moneque Esters.

Hi Moneque, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Moneque — a Mississippi native now living in Dallas, Texas. My journey has been a mix of faith, music, lessons, and growth.

Back in 2020, I came to Dallas on what I thought was a huge opportunity — a chance to rebrand myself as an artist and finally take things to the next level. But once I got here, I realized the whole thing was a scam. It was one of those moments that shakes you up and makes you question everything. I could’ve gone back home, but something in me knew God didn’t bring me here by mistake. So, I stayed.

That decision changed everything for me. Dallas became the place where I had to rebuild — not just as an artist, but as a woman of faith. I started seeing my struggles differently. What felt like a setback was really setting me up to find who I truly was and what I was meant to do.

Out of that season came Purpose: The EP, with songs like Depend On Me and There Is Purpose. Those songs came straight from my pain, but they also carried my healing. They reminded me — and still remind others — that even in hard times, there’s meaning in the struggle. There’s purpose in the process.

Since then, I’ve grown into more than just an artist. I’m also an author and publicist, using my background in Mass Communications and Journalism to tell stories that uplift and connect people. My platform, Kickin’ It With Moneque, is all about real talk — faith, life, and purpose. It’s a space where I share inspiration, encouragement, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

I came to Dallas chasing opportunity, but God turned it into destiny. I’m still here, still growing, still pressing — and I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been rough. Honestly, I have wanted to give up on everything, but God won’t let me. If I can be transparent, when life throws curve balls during big transitions, it’s easy to give up. It’s like watching your life go down this long tunnel with no signs of light. As you can tell, the struggles have been challenging to handle, but without struggles I wouldn’t know what to be thankful for or even why the fight is bigger than me. With therapy, mental healing, and being back active in church, I am seeing a side I was missing for quite a while–The side I know my Grandmother was preparing me for. Though things are not so bad, I am still trusting God for strength, inspiration, courage, and everything He promised me. I just know He didn’t bring me this far to leave me by the wayside. While everything else unfolds, I choose to share my walk of faith and purpose with the world. Life is not a bunch of gifts with big bows, it is a fight for the unknown. Are you willing to endure the ugly things for things bigger than any of your battles? It’s worth a try.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer-songwriter, author, graphic designer, motivator and co-writer. I am known for singing and motivating others. I’m most proud of my ability to continue to be all that I am through everything I’ve faced. Many people wouldn’t make it if they were in my shoes. I am very different, I am a realest, I don’t fake lifestyles, I am honest about my life, and my walk with Christ. I don’t sound like anyone else, I have my own style and swag, and I truly have a heart for all people.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
