Meet Monica Ferrari of Luna Flor in Dallas/Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Ferrari.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started aerial arts almost 7years ago, a friend of mine I met introduced and I immediately fell in love.
The workout itself isn’t just part of the joy but the people surrounding the aerial arts community.

I am mother, wife & former business owner of Labyrinth Smoke Shop in Bedford, now you can find us on Instagram @labyrinthsmokeshoponline.

I have always been working in an alternative industry and have felt the stigma of the jobs I take on, from working in the smoke shop industry to becoming a freelance fire & Lyra hoop performer.

I’ve competed at the South West Aerial Art Championships to earn 2nd Place in Junior Masters Level Two Lyra Division in Dallas, Texas 2015 as well as a 3rd year aerial veteran of The Dragons Halloween Ball hosted in Dallas Texas.

I have trained under multiple well-known aerialists from around the globe & some of my most memorable performances have been working private events such as Dallas House Wives Marie Reyes Holiday Party, NERVO show at Stereo Live Dallas 2017, R.L. Grime in Houston Texas for NYE 2018, Lights All Night 2018 Dallas and NYE Everything Glitters in Houston, TX.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Going through motherhood for the first time was definitely a new but amazing journey especially while growing as an upcoming artist/aerialist in DFW.

Not only would I continue to progress in aerial arts, but my little one would continue this journey with me too.
Saige Julian-S Ferrari is my now five-year-old son. He just finished his second season of soccer & enjoys parkour, gaming & circus on his free time, which is basically every second of every day at my house.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’ve been lucky enough to teach beginner-intermediate Lyra at a few different places over the past two years.
I started out at Somatic Movement Gym in Dallas hosting weekly Open Aerial Nights where aerialist from all over the metroplex could come practice for an upcoming show, to further your progress or simply come play. We offered aerial rope, sling, chains, trapeze, Lyra, tippy Lyra, aerial silks & aerial moon.

They are now located in Arlington, please check them out and find them on Instagram & Facebook, they’re my #1 parkour family and the coaches are amazing, very kid friendly environment.

The Dallas School of Burlesque was by far the cutest pink studio home away from home with me, also known as the Peacock room where I taught Beginner & Mix Level Lyra.

With the mix of burlesque, drag, belly dance & aerials. This place is amazing! I am proud to say one of my students from here has now gone on to teaching aerials herself, I am so proud of my queens.

DSB now under new ownership congratulations MayMay Graves, come visit The Leg Room in Deep Ellum.

You can catch me currently helping assist Beginner Hammock & Hammock 1.5 on Tuesday nights Altitude Fitness Frisco.

With our amazing lead instructor Dawn Green, you can also request me for your next Celebration, Bachelorette, Kids Party at AFF as well as any private lessons. Contact manager@altitudefitnessfrisco.com.

Last but not least, Shine Fitness Studio, you know that feeling when you get a new puppy or kitty… well, that’s this place. 😊

Kristen Rodriguez, owner & friend of SFS brought me on her team Oct 2018 and man… has she not been able to get rid of me, lol.

This gym is not even 10 mins. from my home and we are moving even closer! June 1st is our grand opening!
We will have raffles and a showcase for friends and family.

Our new location is located at 420 Grapevine Hwy Ste 117 Hurst, TX 76054, we offer beginner-advance pole, Russian heals, Lyra beginner-intermediate, flexibility, aerial hammock and much more! Come, meet the instructors!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Hmm. That’s an interesting question. I define success as happiness, it’s taken me a long time to figure out what makes me happy and I am aware that could change at any moment. I do know since I’ve started teaching and educating others in Lyra education my soul couldn’t be more content. From the humble feedback, my students give to me to the smile and “YASSSSS” I get when one of my students learn their first move, their first invert or first aerial drop. I get to experience it all with every single one of my students. They give me the drive to progress in my skills and come up with fun new flows for class weekly. I wouldn’t be the instructor & teacher I am without each and every one of them. I think it’s safe to say I’m successfully happy.
