Meet Morgan English

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan English.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Morgan. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Photography has always been an interest of mine. As a kid, I would take my disposable camera and make pictures of the flowers, the clouds, and anything that fit in my frame. While my equipment has improved over the years, the same passion for capturing beauty has not. Looking back, the defining moment for the start of The English Den was six years ago, when my oldest daughter was a few months old. I wanted higher quality pictures to document her life, so I bought an entry level DSLR and taught myself how to use it. I took pictures for friends and family for several years before taking classes at our Community College to gain confidence. During that time, we were renovating our house and I started documenting our progress through interior photography as well. My Instagram account, The English Den, was created and things grew from there. Throughout the years, I have shot everything from products to engagements, families to interiors and all things in between. I have officially been in business as The English Den for a year, and have enjoyed meeting lots of new clients, who I consider friends, along the way.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The English Den started organically, but not without trial and error. Through my interior account on Instagram, I started as a staging, photography and design business. I quickly realized my passion and skills were in photography. So, The English Den became a photography business solely. I have been blessed with incredible friends who have kept me busy and have passed my name along to others. I am still learning and growing, evaluating what works and what doesn’t, but overall, it has been pretty smooth.

Please tell us about your business.
The English Den is a photography business. I shoot mainly interiors and families, but I love trying new things. Having fun with my clients and making them or their products shine is what brings me joy. I would like to think I am known for delivering quality images, but more importantly, I strive to be known as someone who my clients love to work with.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First and foremost, I would like to thank God because without Him, none of this would be possible. Next, I need to thank my family, my patient and supportive husband, my two little models (aka children), and my parents. I need to give a big thanks to all of my friends and family who volunteered to be guinea pigs. Those who trusted me with their images even before I was confident in myself. And, of course, to all of my amazing clients along the way. They don’t realize how much it means to me to be a small part of their memories. Special recognition needs to go out to Lygia Waters, Kristen Stringer with Stringer Construction and Design, and the wonderful ladies at Max and Lou Home, Veronica Deets and Lynsey Purl, for continuing to trust me with their work and nominating me for this recognition.
