Today we’d like to introduce you to Ms. Liv.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from Dayton, Ohio. In 2004, bored and tired of doing nothing, I just picked up and moved to Dallas. Crazy as it sounds, majority of my career was spent in the Corporate world. I pretty much did it all from waitressing, being a Medical Assistant in a Dr’s office, being a Business Development Manager at a Staffing company, and ending up as a Branch Manager at Enterprise Rent a car.
In 2012, I decided that I was tired of working 60 hours a week and only getting paid 40, and I didn’t wanna work for anyone any longer. I wanted to play by my own rules, lol. It was so wild because I lived on the same street as and would pass Paul Mitchell school everyday to and from work. One day I just stopped in to take a tour, fell in love, and the rest was history!
I graduated and was finally a Licensed Cosmetologist and was so excited to get started in my new career. I never worked in a traditional salon. Right out of school, I became a traveling stylist for a year until I opened up my Salon suite in 2014. Although I had to teach myself and learn a lot along the way, it allowed me to appreciate my journey so much more. That’s when LiviBee Hairstudio was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, because I feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be, my journey has been a pretty good one. I took a leap of faith, stayed focused and it has worked out in my favor.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with LiviBee Hair Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in Natural hair and Healthy hair. If it has grown out of your scalp, I got u LOL. I don’t do any weave, braids or extensions. I don’t knock the skill or the people that do, it’s just an amazing feeling when you can help your clients be confident And show them that they can wear their real hair and have it look just as long and beautiful as wearing someone else’s.
I am pretty much known for my Cuts and my Silk Presses. While I was in hair school I had customers book out every week for six/seven months out just to get their hair flat ironed so I take a lot of pride in that. I don’t use a lot of products on my clients and I’m a perfectionist, so anything that has my name attached to it has to be the best! I also do Color, a few Relaxers, Deep conditioners, Aloe vera treatments, Wand curls, Two strand twists, Dreads, All Natural Smoothing System, etc.
As a company, I am most proud that without any salon experience (by choice), I was able to teach myself and learn along the way and have a successful salon for the last almost seven years. When I moved into my salon suite, I started w about five clients and, through word-of-mouth and referrals was able to build my entire clientele. I have some very loyal and faithful customers that I am super grateful for! What sets me apart is my consistency and the results that I receive from each client. I give my best on every client.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how beautiful and clean it is for the most part. There is a ton of opportunity here. Even though it took me four years to even say that I liked it in the beginning lol, there’s not much that I really dislike about the city. I will say Dallas is very “cliquey,” so either you have to prove yourself or be in with certain groups of people to really get noticed but I guess that can happen anywhere that you go.
