Today, we’d like to introduce you to Mya Newsom. Mya was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Akea Collins.
Mya , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
On October 24th, 2018 , I was in a horrific car accident when I was 7 months pregnant with my son, and the results of it hindered my ability to work. I was out of work for 6 months and at that moment I realized that this was not for me. I was 18 years old, I was working two jobs (Steak N Shake & FEDEX) just to make ends meet. I was working tirelessly and had absolutely nothing to show for it. How was I supposed to support my child and myself under these current circumstances? I worked two jobs and I lost them both due to a car accident and that was highly stressful to say the least.
I came to the realization that I needed to find my niche (passion), but I just couldn’t figure out what it was. When I lost both my jobs and gave birth to my son it led me on a path of unemployment and no income, but I had an 801 credit score. At that moment I realized I had found my niche! I started leveraging my credit to support my household and teach others around me to do the same. I had a deep desire and duty to teach people in my community how I did it. My knowledge of financial literacy propelled my mind towards entrepreneurship. I gathered every piece of education and mentorship I could to build this foundation.
Now let’s fast forward to 2022, I am Mom, Mentor, Business Coach, and Financial Consultant. I worked very hard to obtain this platform today. I didn’t allow my brand to suffer because of my previous circumstances. I actually gained momentum to show the world that I was ready to teach them all this knowledge I had been uploading in my data bank.
Please tell us more about your brand, AYM Financial
My brand is AYM FINANCIAL. I am a Certified Credit Consultant, Public Notary, and Life Insurance Broker. Creating the standard by curating generational wealth has been my main objective for establishing AYM financial. I came up with the name AYM Financial because it stands for creating a higher purpose. You want that 850 credit score? AYM for it! Having money only can take you so far in this world. I need the world to understand that having great credit is the secret sauce to financial growth and literacy. You can leverage credit any day of the week because it shows growth and trust among the credits and gives you the ability to harvest the lifestyle of your dreams. This is how you build the ultimate relationship with the banks and your brand. You want to build generational wealth? AYM for it! I thought this would be unique and different. AYM Financial provides different services in the financial arena. My brand is top tier from my counterparts because I educate to help create wealth with credit and insurance. Life insurance helps families in the community from struggling having to raise money to bury loved ones. Creating mental wealth with teaching them the different opportunities to take advantage of with the policies they purchase. Life insurance also provides living benefits and long-term investments. These services allow me to reach my community by the masses. Teaching financial literacy classes allows me to help on the journey to ending poverty and end the curse of families born in poverty.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Akea Collins and Opulent Branding and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Opulent Branding.
When I first embarked on my journey of constructing AYM Financial I wasn’t completely clear on what my audience saw when they interacted with my brand. I met Akea (Opulent Branding) online in a women’s entrepreneur group after reaching out for a question. A friend of mine had told me about her, but I still wasn’t clear on my path to cleaning up my brand. Akea saw me post a question online and she jumped right on the question and helped me clear up my current issue with my brand identity. I was frustrated with my online presence and current audience and needed to boost it in a positive way.
Akea had me tackle one of my biggest fears which was going live and educating my audience. Learning to become a subject matter expert in my field was the ultimate gain to take the lead in the financial literacy world. I could post all the words in the world, but for my network to actually hear the information come from my mouth changed the game for my brand. It allowed me to start building the know, like and trust factor to solidify my brand authenticity. I learned that as soon as she tasked me to go live. I was like “Oh man she is putting me on the spot!”. I will be honest though, once I started showing up with my brand online and building that report my clients showed up & showed out.
Brand Marketing is hard work, but it’s highly lucrative. Without definitive brand marketing and authenticity, your brand will suffer. Your clients and network must trust you. Without that, your brand will fail and marketing won’t be your only issue at that point. I told Akea that this had to work because it’s my way of giving the world something that was dear to my heart but were both mothers and entrepreneurs, so she understood the assignment. We both have a desire to teach the world, but also, show them all the tools and assets that generational wealth has to offer. It’s more than just how much money you make, it’s truly about how many people you can serve with your brand. Leaving that positive mark on the world was projected when I worked with Akea & Opulent Branding.
