Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Farhan.

Nadia Farhan

Hi Nadia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.

It’s a very common phrase to say ,”I always wanted to become an artist /a doctor/a pilot etc ,as a child”, but in my case this statement is very much true because I actually always dreamed of becoming an artist.

I did my Master’s in Fine Arts and started teaching Fine arts in a prestigious institute backhome . Because of my inquisitive nature  I tried looking into digital arts, though not much of the resources were available except for self based study . I looked into more professional training and learned 3D studio max (create and animate). I wasn’t into graphics much but I can’t let it go without learning. New things always inspired me in terms of creativity.  I always felt I’m lagging behind in technical training and despite of never have fully utilised or practice what I had learned for animation ,I was still in pursue of learning creative cloud.

Painting was and is still my passion but advancement in technology is need of the time.

I had been a very busy mom of 4 and always stayed occupied with my kids but never left my passion and started arranging community classes while living in Toronto. I was in the jury of many art competitions at local events. Also was recognized as a “Woman of Substance “ due to my art work. Moved to Dallas and took photography as my new hobby that finally turned into a passion. Initially I started working out with camera with very little knowledge and tried to have shooting sessions with different people who looked like great models. After a while some social media  influencers reached out to me for creative shoot and I took it as an opportunity to learn and practice more with my tool and editing techniques ,thus combining it with my long desired creative cloud skills. I learned through online tutorials and short courses. But realized that it only requires practice ,experimentation and one’s own creative skills.Slowly and gradually I was reached out for small events like baby showers, pre wedding shoots, maternity shoots and finally for bigger events.

I enjoyed learning lightroom and photoshop (I previously had some knowledge of it as I worked in an advertising agency for a short while). For the first time I created my own logo for my business and that was a moment of pride for me because I was self taught and I was doing great.

Now apart from teaching sketching and painting ,I had another business to take care of ,my new found love ,photography!

Being an artist I was always good with making portraits . Colors always attracted me since I was a child. I used to play with my mother’s makeup palette which she had barely used herself and whenever she used to take an afternoon nap, I used to do her makeup while she was asleep. Yes! My mom was my first ever model who allowed me to polish my skills on her.

I used to watch my sisters always grooming themselves as they were a part of an international airline and they became my first hand tutorials for makeup. We didn’t have YouTube or probably access to YouTube at that time. So,as I grew up I already knew most of the makeup tricks . Also, being an artist was an added benefit. I started offering makeup and hair services to the clients who approached me for photography and Voila! . I had a new added business to my profile. My clients loved how I dolled them up alongside the photoshoot I did for them.

I’m still learning and trying to improve my expertise in both photography and makeup through different channels and hope to see myself as someone who can standout in the crowd!!!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I didn’t have any obstacles or as such any challenges in initiating my journey towards being an entrepreneur in what I had always loved to excel.

My kids were very young ,elementary school going when I started conducting art lessons and I choose not to ignore my family,so I chose to work over the weekend which happened to be feasible both for me and my clients.

Same I did with my photography and MUA business as it usually takes place over the weekends anyways.

My husband had been really supportive throughout all this time rather then being a laid back guy,he was proactively involved in any endeavor I chose to pursue. I’m thankful to my sisters who are my rock and always encouraged promoted my work on social media and have always provide me with tips and suggestions to improve my work, same goes to my husband . They are my supporters but my best critics as well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
All this time while creating pieces of art, to capturing life, and beautifying my clients, I have only learnt that one should never underestimate oneself and never hesitate to paint the canvas of life with the creativity and skills that God has bestowed upon you. Don’t even dare to think that there are already so many talented people out there to mark their presence on the atlas of world, and you would never reach to that point of success or even get closer to that!

Fear not, but fear itself!!!

Unleash your skills by stepping out from the comfort of your home. Keep experimenting, learn through errors, don’t get discouraged if you fall but stand up to take the next flight until you reach that height that you dreamed about. Success doesn’t come to those who do not allow it to enter through their doors.
