Today we’d like to introduce you to Nakeya Divine.
Nakeya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Nakeya Divine, and I’m a Certified Interior Decorator, Professional Organizer, and Planning & Productivity Strategist based in Addison, Texas. I’m the founder of Divine Elements of Design, a brand that helps people create homes that are both beautiful and functional. I’m also the founder of Decorator’s Voice, a lifestyle blog and YouTube channel that inspires intentional living.
For years, I ran my design business part-time while working full-time in the federal government. After nearly 30 years of government service, I decided to take a leap of faith and step into entrepreneurship full-time. That decision changed my life. What started as a creative outlet to express my love for home décor and organization became a full-fledged brand centered on helping women design homes that support their lifestyle and goals.
Through Divine Elements of Design, I offer interior decorating, home organization, and lifestyle strategy services, and through Decorator’s Voice, I share weekly YouTube videos, blog posts, and digital resources that empower busy women to live beautifully and efficiently. My brand blends aesthetics with purpose because I believe your home should not only look divine, but feel like peace.
Over the years, I’ve expanded my brand with products and tools designed to help people take control of their time and space including my Divine Life & Home Planner and my online course, Home & Life Organizational Strategies. These were created from my own experiences as a mother, wife, and entrepreneur striving to stay organized, productive, and fulfilled.
The transition from federal employment to full-time entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, but it taught me that growth requires courage and intention. Every skill I gained throughout my career, structure, discipline, and consistency now supports my business in new, creative ways.
Today, I collaborate with local design communities like Studio Works in Addison and attend events at the Dallas Design District and Dallas Market Center to stay connected to the interior design community. I’ve also partnered with national brands in the home and lifestyle space, using my platform to inspire people to embrace both style and structure in every aspect of their lives.
Ultimately, my mission is to help people create homes and systems that feel divine because when your space is in order, your mind and life follow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest challenges was learning to fully embrace entrepreneurship after nearly 30 years in a structured federal career. When I decided to take Divine Elements of Design from a part-time passion to a full-time business, I had to shift my mindset from employee to CEO. It required courage, confidence, and consistency.
In the beginning, I struggled with visibility and learning how to put myself out there, build an audience, and attract the right clients. There were moments of doubt, but I reminded myself that growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. I focused on showing up authentically and providing value through my content, my planner line, and my online courses.
Balancing motherhood, creativity, and business management has also been an ongoing challenge, but it’s one that taught me to build systems, both at home and in my business. Those systems now help me teach other women how to simplify their lives and design homes that support their goals.
Every challenge I’ve faced has ultimately shaped me into a more disciplined, strategic, and purpose-driven entrepreneur.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business, Divine Elements of Design, is a lifestyle brand that combines interior decorating, home organization, and productivity strategy. I help people create homes that are not only beautiful to look at, but peaceful and practical to live in. My approach blends design, structure, and mindset because a well-designed home sets the tone for a well-designed life.
As an interior design influencer, I use my online platforms including my YouTube channel, blog, and social media to share home styling tips, organization strategies, and productivity systems. My goal is to inspire people, especially women to take control of their spaces and routines so they can truly thrive at home.
To make that transformation accessible to everyone, I’ve built a learning pathway that meets people at every stage:
The Free 5-Day Course: “5 Days to an Organized Life and Home” – a starter email series that helps begin decluttering and organizing their spaces with intention.
The Full Course: “Home & Life Organizational Strategies” – a deeper, step-by-step program that teaches how to create sustainable systems for a calm, efficient home life.
The Divine Life & Home Planner – my signature planner designed to help people stay organized, productive, and focused in every area of life.
Coaching & Consultations – through my DIVINE Home Consults and coaching programs, I work one-on-one to create personalized home and lifestyle strategies that fit their goals.
Together, these offerings form a complete ecosystem that supports people from inspiration to transformation, guiding them to design homes and lives that feel truly Divine.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like most about Dallas is the creativity, culture, and sense of community. It’s such an inspiring city for both design professionals and families. As someone raising children here, I truly appreciate how Dallas offers the best of both worlds. Dallas has endless opportunities for entrepreneurship and design, yet still a warm, family-centered atmosphere. There’s always something to do, from beautiful parks and museums to local markets, restaurants, and weekend events. Whether I’m attending a design show or enjoying a family day out, there’s always inspiration around every corner.
Professionally, Dallas is a designer’s dream. The Dallas Market Center, Studio Works Addison, and all the incredible local showrooms make it easy to stay connected, network, and continue learning. The people here are welcoming and driven. There’s a genuine spirit of collaboration and creativity that makes Dallas feel like the perfect place to grow both personally and professionally.
If I had to name something I like least, it would definitely be the traffic, especially when you’re trying to crisscross the city for events, school pickups, or client meetings. And of course, the summer heat can be a challenge (especially when you’re filming or doing a design install!). But those small inconveniences are far outweighed by everything Dallas offers. It has opportunity, inspiration, and a wonderful environment to raise a family and build a meaningful life.
Beyond design, I love sharing knowledge, whether it’s through my YouTube channel, blog, or coaching calls. Seeing other women find clarity and joy in their homes truly lights me up. I’m also a big fan of a good cup of coffee, cozy mornings, and intentional routines that make life flow smoother.
What I dislike most are things that create unnecessary stress or clutter, physically or mentally. I’m not a fan of chaos, disorganization, or environments that feel overwhelming. I believe that when your surroundings are calm and structured, you show up as your best self.
Ultimately, I love anything that aligns with peace, purpose, and productivity, and I try to live and design by that standard every day.
