Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalia Colon.
Hi Natalia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Everything started in Puerto Rico (where I am from) 13 years ago. Just before leaving for college, my parents gifted me my first camera. I started to take photos of my family every Christmas, my friends having their babies and birthdays. While studying Communications in college, I enrolled in my first photography course and everything shifted. What started as curiosity quickly became dedication. I decided to take courses outside college and I started this journey as a hobby. When the pandemic changed the world, it also clarified my purpose.
I officially launched my photography business in Puerto Rico, focusing on families and events. In 2021 I made the decision to move to Texas all by myself, for a great opportunity working for a tv station. I pressed pause on my business to study my new environment and to understand the market. In 2023, I reintroduced my brand with renewed vision and clarity. While my foundation was built on capturing families and life’s most meaningful milestones, my work has since evolved.
Today, my primary focus is brand, product and food photography. I am deeply passionate about helping businesses translate their vision into intentional visuals to elevate their presence and communicate quality. Whether I’m styling a culinary creation or developing portraits for a brand’s identity, my goal remains the same; to tell a story with precision, emotion and purpose.
Photography is no longer just something I do; it is who I am. There is nothing more meaningful than being trusted with someone’s vision. I carry that privilege with deep gratitude every single day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was the language barrier. English is my second language and when I moved to Texas, I was initially afraid of how that might affect my confidence and my business. I worried about communicating clearly, building trust with clients and fully expressing my vision.
Over time, I realized that connection goes far beyond language. Professionalism and authenticity speak louder than perfection. That challenge pushed me to grow, not only as a business owner but as a person. It strengthened my resilience and reminded me that courage often lives on the other side of fear.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer based in Fort Worth but I cover the whole DFW area. I specialize in Product, Branding and Food Photography but I’m mostly known for my Maternity and Family portraits. I’m really proud of everything I have accomplished so far and how far I’ve gotten. I really love to get to know my clients and help them with every need they have from the v at the moment of having to have a photo session done. I think what sets me apart from others is that I care for every small detail since the moment my clients inquires information about our packages. It’s not only when I take their photos and I deliver them.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the quality for my success is my dedication.
