Meet Natalie Carrasco of Body By O.G. Fitness in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Carrasco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Natalie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My senior year of High school, I dropped out. I was in a hard place and had no sense of motivation in the world I just gave up. My mother who has five kids, made me finish by going to school online where I end up finishing early. When I turned 18, I started working at a local gym as a sales consultant for the memberships. There I met so many people who were so incredibly motivated to reach their physical goals.

My coworkers and personal trainers I worked with encouraged me to educated myself since I would always ask them questions regarding working out and nutrition since I really never knew too much. In the middle of completing my certification on National Academy of Sports Medicine’s online personal training program, I found out I was pregnant. At the time, I was in a very toxic relationship that made me leave the fitness industry. Throughout my pregnancy, I still continued my online course and was able to finally complete. Throughout my pregnancy, I waitressed at a local family restaurant to get ready for my daughter’s arrival. A month before having my daughter, I cut off ties with her father and decided after having her, I would go back to be in the field I love. Three months after having my daughter, my old general manager saw me working out & offered me a job on the personal training side of the gym. He had me on social media and knew I had been serving tables. He knew how much I loved the gym atmosphere but also knew I had a daughter so I needed to make money. They offered me a sales position for personal training. I took it.

Within three months of working there, I got promoted to a fitness director working six days a week. The money was incredible but the time away from my very young daughter was not worth it. It absolutely KILLED me to leave the industry but my daughter Leilah is my world and she was growing up faster than I could blink. I prayed for God to guide me in the right direction and so I had to leave. For two months, I tried going to work a regular 9-5 job that had me living very comfortable and I was able to have more time with my daughter. but the problem for me was the fact that I felt like I’m working. Even working close to 60 hour weeks before in the gym, I never felt like I was working. It became really old, really fast. So I took a leap of faith. Quit my guaranteed weekly paycheck job with no plan. I trust that with the ambition I have and the passion I have I will figure it out. It was the scariest thing in my life. Because as a single Mom, the only thing that was on my mind was, how am I going to provide for my child. But I knew God would guide the way.

I spent a month off just spending time with my daughter. A very needed break & just enjoying sleep and home lol. Then one day, I seen a quote that read, “if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” And it dawned to me, I could do what I love WITHOUT WORKING FOR ANYONE. I was a certified personal trainer. I have no previous clients, I had no equipment. I had nothing. But what I did have was ambition. I decided to post on social media that I would be doing free boot camps at a park near me every Saturday. I didn’t know what I was gonna do but I knew I’d figure it out. 6 months later, I have 26 and counting one on one client. I hold two bootcamps a week and I have access to everything I need to help every single one of my clients reach their goals. As we grew, I decided to put out apparel with my company (Body by O.G. fitness) on it to promote my brand and because I was a broke single mom who needed new gym clothes but couldn’t afford a decent pair of leggings. Every dollar I received I put back into my growing personal training company. Today I take my daughter everywhere with me, I have client results under my belt and a growing gym apparel website. I go back and remember that quote often. Because I wake up everyday never feeling like I have to work but feeling like I’m fulfilling my purpose in life.

From being an 18 years old drop out with no motivation to being 23 mother with owning my own growing business and I couldn’t thank the people around me who constantly motivate me to not stop till I reach my ultimate goal of owning my own gym that one day my little girl will take over. I don’t have motivation, I have determination to never settle and to keep going. Even when I fail, I use my failures as drive to keep pushing. Because I still have rough times, but I will until I achieve my goal. I’m so thankful for my clients for giving their all. Body by OG isn’t just me. It’s them too. We’re a family and we keep each other driving. I want my brand to inspire all to never ever settle. Because you can leave out your dream THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO. If you just believe. Only up from here.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having no job isn’t an easy task, lol. All Make goes right back to the business. I moved back in with my incredible mom that encourages me to keep going. She’s my backbone and has helped me so much in growing my business. When I first quit it was a struggle. Very hard but I trust God had a plan.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Body By O.G. Fitness – what should we know?
@bodybyogfitness mission: to not only motivate you guys in the gym but in life. To not stop until your dreams are your reality. Body by O.G. Fitness is a personal training business. We have very affordable bootcamps twice a week and personal training options. Personal training comes with personal macro nutrition meal plans weekly, free access to all bootcamps and one on one sessions with me. Every client have different needs and my goals are to educate and push my clients to the point where they can do it on their own. I want to help people fall in love with taking care of themselves. What makes us different is we keep each other accountable by having a client only class once a week where we have a kick ass workout and motivate each other to keep pushing. I love the clients interacting with each other and asking each other questions. I have every single one of my clients in a group message where we send motivational quotes and send our homework. It keeps the clients going because it’s having everyone check in. My favorite part of my training is my client only class.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I refuse to quit. Where there is a will there is a way. No matter the task, I will get it done. I don’t always know my next step. But I refuse allowing that to be a reason I don’t succeed. My drive is all because I know I have my daughter Leilah depending on me. And I want her to know her dreams will become reality if she never allows failing to stop her but let it grow her.
