Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Castillo.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I became inspired to join the industry at the age of 16. I worked as an assistant in a salon at the time. I attended a Redken focus School and graduated top of my class with many achievements.
Once I graduated I apprenticed under a master stylist the first 6 months of my career and took advanced classes while building my clientele. Knowing I had reached my maximum growth potential, I ventured out to start my own salon at the age of 21 in February 2010. With the support of my husband and Many loyal clients That followed me, they helped me establish a business! It wasn’t easy in the beginning, I had to have a part time job so I could support myself the first year. After working two jobs for a year I started building my clientele and was able to focus fully on the salon. It took a lot of long hours, sacrifices, time away from my family, hard work, and going above and beyond for my clients. I am blessed now 7 1/2 years later to have a regular clientele, booked out 2-3 months in advance with over 350 clients and to be doing what I love! I continue to serve in the Plano area and was voted “Best Women’s Salon” in Plano two years in a row! (2016 and 2017)
In 2016 I received a plaque at the hall of fame from the Salon Professional Academy! The award was presented for outstanding contributions to the industry.
I continue to seek education to stay up to date with the newest products/techniques/styles.
I previously served as an Education Business Expert with Sexy Hair and helped other stylists and salons with the latest cuts and trends. I traveled all over dfw teaching classes/doing hair shows.
I am certified in Klix Hair Extensions, Keune color certified, and GK certified. I specialize also in balayage and specialty colors/color corrections. My goal is to provide my clients with the latest colors and styles that fit into their busy lifestyles.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck,
I believe in hard work, you get what you put in. I worked very hard to be where I’m at and strive to always be better. I think work ethic also comes into play as well. I can thank my dad for always instilling in me a strong work ethic from an early age.
Even when things got hard or I had “bad luck” I always pushed through it and kept working harder, I saw the end goal which is to be the best I can be at whatever I do.
Whether that’s being the best mom I can be, wife, or stylist/salon owner…
