Today we’d like to introduce you to Natetisha McIntosh.
Natetisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m the owner of LashUp BrowDown. LashUp BrowDown originated from Anchorage, Alaska where I was born and raised. Four years ago, I moved to Texas to pursue my dream. A dream where I had no idea the amount of support I would receive, from a place I knew no one. I started with zero clients. Worked endless hours, ran on not enough rest for the average person. I was determined and failing wasn’t an option. There were plenty of struggles. Today, I can proudly say I’ve expanded my business and now have two talented artists on my team. The platform that has opened has given me opportunities to help many other women through the beauty industry. I was given a spirit to mentor, and give guidance freely. I’m grateful to say LashUp BrowDown is now a training academy for a young woman like myself who are eager to grow, and succeed. I’m truly blessed and looking forward to seeing how I can continue to help and be a part of our community.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey was not a smooth road. But thanks to God given me the strength to keep pressing. I was in a three-car accident on the way to take my written exams. Had to reschedule, as I still made it on time (1 minute before they shut the door) I failed by one point. Rescheduled later that week. I went to my new scheduled exam, to arrive and the computers shut down. After two hours, the computers were back up and I passed the exam. I then drove to Austin to take my practical exam, as I was determined to receive my license before my 30th birthday and Austin was the only location prior to my birthday. I went and passed with 96%. When I received my license, I worked at a salon that was booth rent for two 1/2 years. Booth rent you had to pay weekly. Remind you, I didn’t know anyone and had no clients. I had little to no money to pay rent while trying to get clients in the door as the salon I chose was a new salon as well. I worked very hard and built a strong clientele base. Later, moved on to rent my own suite. Less than a year later from that location, I decided to expand where I’m currently located.

LashUp BrowDown specializes in eyelash extensions and microblading. That is what we’re known for. What sets us apart is the details to our work and beautiful luxury studio. The connections we make with our clients. They’re our family!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Customer service and your attitude. How you treat people, how you resolve any issues is a big factor on what people will say when they leave our doors.
