Today we’d like to introduce you to Neel Gonuguntla.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Texas and was hired by Albert Black to join a startup as in-house counsel to improve educational and workforce development outcomes in inner cities. I joined the company and then ran that company for three years before coming over to run the US India Chamber of Commerce.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a young, female leader in the business world had its challenges. However, keeping myself focused on performance and outcomes was the key to being recognized as a serious professional.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the US India Chamber of Commerce DFW story. Tell us more about the business.
The US India Chamber of Commerce DFW is a local Chamber of Commerce that seeks to support the development of professionals, businesses and promote economic development in North Texas.
The Chamber also helps facilitate bilateral trade with India. Additionally, the Chamber supports a variety of education initiatives in the DFW area. We are one of only a few business and trade organizations that focuses on serving as a bridge between the Indian-American community and the broader business community in Texas and the United States.
As President of the Chamber, my role is the ensure that we are fulfilling our mission and supporting member development through our events and activities.
I’m proud of the work we’re doing to serve as a bridge between the Indian-American community and the broader business community in North Texas. I am also proud of the fact that members frequently find value in being a part of the Chamber.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’ve been lucky to be raised by incredible parents, taught by brilliant and inspiring teachers, and have had the opportunity to meet inspiring, community-oriented business leaders, community leaders, and public servants throughout my life. Their influence on me has been profound.
