We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being independent and a custom designer has its ups and downs. The main thing was consistency starting off. I can truly say I was fortunate to have people work by mouth to get my business out there. Also doesn’t hurt to have the proof in the pudding. We live in a time now we’re social network is tremendously a great help and it is definitely served me very well. As God would have it my business has taken off tremendously and I am forever grateful, the greatest thing in a nutshell is needing some help. Literally I do everything from Custom Design to tailoring alterations as well as making everything from scratch all by myself. I guess you can say that is a little bit of a struggle sometimes with trying to meet deadlines at a timely fashion which can get a little tired from but it’s worth it when the end result happens.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a custom fashion designer, who specializes in everything that life is expected for you to have. I do everything from making men’s clothing from shirts to Suits to pretty much anything that is requested of the client. My specialty is women’s clothing from gowns to dresses to just being creative with fabric. One of the things I’m definitely known for is my gowns. I truly appreciate my young clients when it comes to prom and Gala season. It’s one of my busiest times of the year and one that I’m truly proud of. What sets me apart is the fluent knowledge of fabric that I have. You have so many people out here making clothes but who doesn’t know how to steer their clients in the right direction when it comes to fabric/material. I make it my business to be as knowledgeable about anything from gabardine to taffeta, also everyday cottons.

What were you like growing up?
I was always a peculiar child. Literally laughing, I’ve always felt different in my own skin when it came to everything I did. Being the eldest child in my family I had the privilege of experiencing everything first. I am a singer first, many of my peers in fashion industry are not privy to that but that actually is what I was known for before I became a fashion designer. I still dabble in it quite a bit not as fluently as I used to. I always felt just being true to myself a lot of time being around many people but still have a lonely train of thought. I’ve been an individual in everything I did. My love for fashion was always a given coming up as a child I would see adults get dressed up especially my parents who were too Fashion Mavens in their own right.
