Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Ogilvie. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Meet Nick Ogilvie, the fun-loving entrepreneur hailing from Clovis, New Mexico, who inherited his passion for business from his successful, business-savvy grandfathers. As a high schooler, Nick dipped his toes into the world of city practices and politics by serving on the Parks and Recreation Board. Nick then headed to West Texas A&M, where he not only majored in Business but also became the Vice President of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity—talk about a multitasker! While studying, he worked at the Ambassador Hotel, rubbing elbows with folks from all sorts of industries. It’s here where he learned about hard work, dedication, and the art of “The Customer Experience.” His mentor, the fabulous Phyllis Nickum Golden, pushed Nick to reach for the stars in everything he did.
Life threw a curveball when Nick got laid off from his conductor job with BNSF Railway, but he caught it like a pro. He spotted a golden opportunity in artificial turf, grabbed his life savings, and jetted off to California to learn the trade. He knew that with droughts and a booming population in Eastern New Mexico and West Texas, artificial turf was the water-saving solution folks needed.
Fast forward 16 years, and Nick is now a turf installation sensation, spreading lush, green lawns from Los Angeles to Burlington and Vermont to the Florida Keys. His talents even got him a spot on “Florida Flip My Yard!” Plus, he’s got an impressive list of projects under his belt, including Crystal River Harley Davidson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Crown Euro Cars Mercedes Benz, Hard Rock Hotels, Disney World, 40 Yards of Gold, the City of Clovis New Mexico, the City of Crown Point Indiana, and Devon Amphitheatre in Decatur, Illinois. And that’s not all—Nick is now an Amazon #1 Best Seller Author, speaker, and trainer who teaches people how to sell and maintain a positive mindset. He lives by Proverbs 13:20.
Oh, and did we mention he’s also a golf enthusiast? Since the tender age of seven, Nick’s been swinging clubs and has a soft spot for designing and installing artificial turf golf courses. His proudest projects include the first artificial turf par 3 course on the south rim of the Palo Duro Canyon for The River Falls Development outside Amarillo, Texas, and a 9-hole par 3 course for his hometown, Clovis, New Mexico.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
