Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicklaus Farricy.
Hi Nicklaus, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the industry of custom swimming pools for over 15 years. When the opportunity came to start my own company, it was simply a chance I couldn’t afford to miss. I noticed over my career prior to starting my own company that there inevitably reaches a point with most companies that it shifts from product to profit, all at the expense of the client. I saw that with growth and expansion, quality always drops and the client pays the price. I want to change that with my company, Parthas Custom Pools, and ensure that we give our clients the best of us we can. We shouldn’t burden them or make them pay for mistakes and growing pains.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is never an easy task, especially if you want to do it right and bring along the right people and partners that share the same goals as you. The market is saturated with options who only care about how much they make so finding lenders, trades, suppliers, etc. that care more about the experience, product, and simply doing what is right because it’s the right thing to do has been the most difficult aspect aside from creating digital pricing models that integrate current prices in such a complex field of construction. I am confident after months of meeting our trades and suppliers face to face to ensure we are on the same page, we have one of, if not, the best all-around complete crews for every facet of the job from lending to cleanup.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am owner and managing partner of Parthas custom pools. I am also the head designer and the project manager, so I am the first one you meet initially onsite, the one who you see during the entire design and material process, and the one you see during the entire build process where most companies you see multiple individuals throughout so the points of contact are confusing and accountability tends to be muddled. I specialize in design and material cohesive with vision and surrounding scape. I pride myself in not being a salesman but more of a creative designer and partner with my clients. I obsess about the little things and the overall big picture which makes me very good at what I do but makes being married to me, hard at times, if you ask my wife lol. (Love you, Tara) For me, it’s about creating a space that a family can enjoy and create core memories in and simply live life. It’s more than just a hole in the ground with water, it should be a place of peace and relaxation, where you can unwind from the stresses of life and not be another stress in your life, hence why we adhere to such a robust construction standard. Knowing it is built right and for the long haul so you can enjoy it for many seasons to come.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Never rush the initial phase of building the foundations of the company. The pillars of how you want the company to do business and with whom. Do not settle for who contacts you first for work, ensure all your trades are the right ones. Don’t be afraid to ask for help on things you do not know to simply keep things moving, it will be more costly in the end than swallowing your pride up front and delegating to someone with more experience. Finally, make sure you pray for guidance and what His will is for your business. I am where I am today because of God and His grace, so I am accountable to God for how I conduct and run my business. Never forget, you are a steward of all of this, not the owner.
