Meet Nicole Gibson of Realtor at TD Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Gibson

Hi Nicole, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been a person that has intrinsically knew I would be someone that enjoys life! The way I have learned to enjoy life is making myself, the people around me, my home and my spaces I occupy FEEL good to me; and I want to provide that feeling for my clients!

I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I was raised by my lovely Mom, Sherry Wilson and I have an older sister, Kamika Branch, who I love deeply. I am Generation-X, growing up my Mom worked a lot and was always known for helping people in need- so my sister and I had to figure some things out on our own. A lot of my life has been figuring things out on my own and figuring what makes me feel good on the inside. I believe my Mom died early in life, because she was always there for everyone, but herself. My hobby in life is taking care of ME (mentality, physically, spiritually and emotionally). I believe that taking care of me first allows me to be a kind to others and focus on my clients when they need me the most.

We never really had career discussions in my home, it was more about ‘working hard’ and doing a ‘good job’ at whatever career/job you chose. My Mom was a very hard worker, super positive and encouraging to my sister and I growing up. I am forever grateful to her for that, I believe that is where my high self-esteem comes from. I truly believe in myself, because of her. On the other hand, I also believe it made me naïve about people and relationships in the first half of my adult life, but life experiences and relationships quickly gave me a reality check.

After high school, I went to college for 2 years. Ultimately I left college, because I couldn’t afford tuition and life. I am thinking about going back one day though. For 20 years I worked in the restaurant industry. I worked really hard, grew through ranks and became really successful in that career. However, I became bored, overworked and uninspired. The older I got, I started to think about my future and wondered if I wanted to continue down that career path. If you have ever worked in the restaurant industry, it can take over your life, if you allow it to. I wanted freedom of my time and freedom of time requires some money! I began to research wealth building. I read so many books, listened to so many podcast and learned some of the wealthiest people, have gained wealth their through real estate. I decided I wanted to invest in real estate. I decided the best way to learn about real estate was to become a Realtor. In 2016, I took 2 months off my job, without pay, did some soul searching and I went to real estate school. I originally planned on staying at my job and investing in real estate part-time. However, my real estate business picked up quickly and I couldn’t do both. I decided to leave my ‘secure’ job of 20 years and pursue real estate full-time. I was scared as hell, it has not been easy at all and I am so glad I did it! I am not wealthy yet, but I am working towards it, which in turn I hope allows me freedom of my time.

It has been a great ride so far! I am so in awe and grateful of clients who choose me and refer me as a Realtor. It shocks me every time! At the age of 45, I still feel so young, vibrant and smart. Life has so much more to offer me and I can’t wait to see what offerings are next!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh Lord Geezus! My entrepreneur journey has NOT been smooth AT ALL! I doubt myself all the time, I mean who doesn’t, but I never give up. I tell myself, ‘fuck that shit’, try my best and get back at it! I have really had to figure this out. I am still figuring it out and I am not sure I will ever figure it out; whatever ‘it’ is. I have had to learn/still learning major discipline and sticking to a schedule. If I don’t follow a schedule, I don’t make any money. I do so many roles in my business (assistant, accountant, driver, designer, marketing, realtor, counselor, customer care, etc.) that I didn’t recognize or realize I would be the one responsible for literally everything after leaving my job.

My current struggle is, staying focused! I try best to stay away from the partying, the glitz and the glam of real estate. I am introverted, so love a one on one connection vs. a group. I believe success and growth will come for me in the future, by building solid relationships. I am a free spirit, I love my alone time, I love music, I love taking care of my home, I love taking care of myself, I love learning about new people/places and can get lost in my thoughts, but those aforementioned items, don’t pay the bills.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Texas Realtor. I specialize in buying and selling real estate the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I believe what sets me apart from others is my ability to listen and bring calmness to the real estate transaction by being organized and creating solutions to my clients concerns. I want to provide a great experience for my clients especially and everyone involved in the transaction. I am always complimented by my colleagues on my real estate knowledge, timeliness and organization. My clients always compliment me on my patience and ability to listen.

I want my clients to feel good about the purchase and sell of their home. I want them to trust me in making sure I am going to look out for their best interest. I do this by making sure the transaction isn’t chaotic. If I end up working with a vendor that is chaotic to my clients, it’s not someone I will continue to work with in the future. Buying or selling a home shouldn’t be stressful. However, some people like to make it that way, I try my best to mitigate stress for my clients. I do a lot of things in the background, by setting up systems to make sure I am communicating to my clients ‘next-steps’, before they ask!

What I love the most about real estate, is when my clients invite me back to their home. After they have closed on the home, decorated and they have made the home their own- I get so excited to see how they have made their space FEEL good to them. It feels so good to know that I played a part in making that feeling happen for them!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I truly believe ALL the people (good and bad) I have encountered in life have played a big role in my success. I have connected with some the best people in the world. I have connected with some of the most horrible people in the world. I believe they have all helped me be successful.

I would say my Mom has had the biggest influence on my life. Although, my Mom did a lot for me and she had her own personal struggles- her personal struggles are never my first thought about her, when I’m thinking about her. When I think of her, my first thought is always the things she said to me. She was so encouraging, always told me how smart I was and always told me how proud she was of me! I miss her so much, she passed away in October 2011. I never have to wonder if she would be proud of me now, I know for sure, she would be.

And I can’t forget to give myself credit, for being me and always chasing my happiness!
