Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Hodges.
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly, I’m not entirely sure which section of my life is best for the story.
I’ve been an actor and producer since 2007, and currently the 1st VP of the SAGAFTRA DFW local.
I toured the world with a motivational speaking kids yoyo show, before covid.
As of late, I am taking over the family business, is Fun Time Entertainment Group and Rent Santa DFW, we book entertainment for events, festivals and parties. Our contractors include face painting, balloon twisting, petting zoos, reindeer, Santa Claus and so much more 🙂 we love what we do and the community of entertainers here is incredible!
I also in the span of last year, survived a national sexual harassment court case, had a baby as a single mom by choice via IVF, bought a house and helping my mom with dementia.
So…there’s a lot going on 🙂 I’m happy to talk about any and all
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, there are always bumps in the road, it’s those bumps that show you that you can survive and help you appreciate the good stuff.
Bumps to note: COVID, my mom being diagnosed with pre-dementia, scammers stole money from my mom which affected all of us as a family and the business…that was HUGE.
The National SH case I dealt with was a HUGE struggle…emotionally and mentally (especially when the predator represented himself in my deposition in order to intimidate and bully)
Again, happy to talk about any and all, just not sure which part Angela was referring to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
FunTime Entertainment is an event entertainment company. Purchased in 2015 and merged with our previous boutique company.
Professionally what sets us apart is we work with and represent the best of the best… that means not only are they good in their field but also they love what they do and are creating an experience with and for every guest. And an experience is much more than just a talented person doing their job, but about having genuine fun, no matter how old are young your guests might be.
Bread, wise things we are most proud of is the community we have created not only but that ourselves as a group of artists, encouraging each word to go grow and stretch to their heart’s content. I have watched some incredible artists, doubt their talents in the beginning and grow to become nothing short of incredible. We truly are a big family, it goes so much more beyond just a business.
The integrity that we keep is also so important. If there is something that we don’t do, we will do our best point you in the right direction of the company that can.
Given how hard the world can be sometimes the true joy our job is helping that person, whether it’s the five-year-old sitting in the Face Painter‘s chair to be painted or, the 11 year-old awaiting an amazing balloon twist so they can go play pretend, or is someone getting to experience Santa even at the age of 40 (I recently painted in 93-year-old woman who was nothing but smiles)…
This is an industry where politics don’t exist, we are all one no matter what size color or age, and we help make the world better brighter, and a little less serious, even if it’s for mere moments.
I think the biggest Takeaway that I would be to know is not only do we pride, ourselves and professionalism and talent, but also in how you were treated when you sit down or experience any of our talent… you become part of the family even for just moments.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I guarantee there is I’m just not entirely sure which part to focus on…
But when it comes to the entertainment industry….sometimes these jobs can be overlooked or even treated as ‘less than’, but if people only knew how much my crew and talent put into what they do, safety procedures, and growing their own talent, and making sure that each and every person that crosses their path has a great experience… it is so much more than it seems on the surface…is so important and vital in creating a beautiful experience.
