Meet Nicole Jones of Haute Images H.M.I. in Carrollton and Duncanville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Jones.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story is quite simple yet with a bit of how did we end up here. I grew up in the hair salon right by my mother’s side. She was the salon owner of one of Dallas’s most sought after establishments. Some of Dallas’s who’s who came to her salon to get their beauty services done. I was oh so fascinated with beauty and image as well as the concept of what a hair salon was. However, I saw how hard my mother worked and vowed to NEVER work in a salon. I absolutely did not care about how much I made… it was just too much for me to understand. Fast forward SEVERAL years and I was on track to be an Orthodontist. People often look at me with the side eye when I tell them that. Yes, it was true, I wanted to create beautiful teeth.

When I entered college at Clark Atlanta University, I ended up falling in love with Psychology. Being a pre-med major was entirely too stressful and quite frankly made me want to quit school. I graduated with a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. I worked in Corporate America only to realize it was not for me. I needed to be free creating and living by my own standards. All the while, I’m still doing my friends hair and makeup for fun. It was at that moment I realized I needed to go to beauty school and get the ball rolling. People thought I was crazy for leaving stability and stepping out on faith to pursue a dream that I wasn’t even sure about.

Fast forward to now and I’m here!!! I started out working early mornings and late evenings, all while balancing motherhood and being wife. I had some tough days balancing it all. I’m still wearing multiple hats and juggling a few things, but at the end of the day, I’m so glad I followed my heart and PASSION. There were days when I just wanted to walk away and get a job, but I’ve ALWAYS had to be my biggest cheerleader. Although, I am a salon owner, Haute Images H.M.I. has always been my baby. My image consulting firm is designed to refine the image of the everyday woman into something beyond what she can imagine. I enjoy servicing clients from behind the chair as well as in front of their own personal mirrors. I feel a tremendous sense of pride in knowing that I have been instrumental in helping someone redefine his/her image, and making him/her feel good about him/herself. The hard work is extremely rewarding in the end. The plan was for me to always use my education and natural talent to create a brand that is known by many. My legacy is necessary for the generations after me, and everything that I do has to be intentional. I’m consistently working on ways to make Beauty and Business success. Whether it’s fixing teeth or hair, I guess you could say I’ve always been interested in the concept of Image Refinement.

Has it been a smooth road?
Like anything in life, struggles are inevitable. The life of an ENTREPRENEUR is a struggle everyday. My hardest obstacles came once I became a new mom and decided on starting a new career over 11 years ago. Then came the relocation from Atlanta to Dallas 5 years ago and having to start my business from the ground up again. In addition, I decided to open two salon locations all while trying to rebrand HAUTE IMAGES. TALK ABOUT STRESS. However, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m going to continue to to try to balance being a wife and mom all while building an EMPIRE.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Haute Images H.M.I. is an extension of my behind the chair/salon business. I am best known for providing some pretty dope hair care experiences through the art of cutting and coloring. Not only am I stylist, but I’m also an unconventional therapist. My client’s weekly visits are therapeutic for them. I’m proud of how far my business has come, and where it is going. I’m also proud of the fact that clients seek me out to be apart if their change. Haute Images is a unique experience in that a person can receive traditional hair care service, as well as private image refinement services. Haute Images relaunch will make it an agency designed to provide freelance work for hairstylists, makeup artists, nail technicians, and wardrobe stylists. The ultimate goal is for Haute Images to be known throughout the industry as the go to agency for freelance beauty industry professionals.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is a good place for my business model. There are a number of professionals relocating here, so it’s good to be able to service them in more than one way. I’ve always felt as long as you have a unique idea, there is enough business for everyone.
