Meet Nicole Newland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Newland.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started this journey as a hobby around 2019 just before information about coronavirus had hit world news. I came across an Instagram of this girl making beautiful personalized tumbler cups. I of course ordered one right away. When I received it, I was in awe of it, the colors, my name, how shiny and smooth it was. I became obsessed with figuring out how she made it possible. Not only does she do this but there is an entire tumbler-making community! A sparkly, bright and colorful, wonderful supportive community that I am so proud to now be a part of myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning, it was hard, only because I was working with little to no knowledge. But I had the tumbler community to lean on so that made it a lot easier.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create customized tumbler cups. I do a little bit of everything but my favorite go-to is a punchy western aesthetic. Lots of animal prints. To date, I am most proud of my 3d highland cow tumbler that I hand sculpted from clay and hand-painted.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give someone starting out advice it would be… It takes time. It just takes time. Don’t stop practicing, don’t give up. It just takes time.
