Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Sheppard.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had what I would call a perfect storm that affected every area of my life from all of my relationships to my career. Instead of letting the trauma and drama dictate my future, I chose to rebuild myself, rediscover who I am and build an enterprise by finding my voice, celebrating and focusing on my victories and coming up with a strategy and plan to excel beyond my issues and thrive in spite of it all..
I spent so much of my life depressed over life issues, not wanting to leave my house, ashamed, hurt, angry, confused and a whole surge of emotions that left me broken and hopeless to the point that I wanted to disappear. It was God and a group of amazing pillars in my life who assisted in loving me in the midst and holding my hands through my mess with no judgement only a “sister girl, get up and win” mentality.
As a result, my pain became my platform and my life experiences shaped my voice. Today, having thought about ending it all and having contemplated running away from everything, I realize that my Value, Influence, and Purpose (my VIP) mean more to me than anything. I lived with and through depression, low self-esteem, approval addiction, and much more. I have written a book available on Amazon called “Finding Your Voice Amid the Trauma and Drama of Everyday Life.” I founded “The Voice Conference for Women” a local conference for women who have overcome tough life issues and who make it their mission to help others by sharing their stories and am Co-founder of a nonprofit with my kids called, “Not So Basic Movement’ that donates new and gently used shoes to underprivileged children. My advice to anyone struggling with life will always be to get up and do something positive, giving back makes everyone win!
Over time, I have moved past the trauma and drama and focused on my VIP while helping others discover their own as well. My combined experiences of 20 years as a teacher and school counselor as well as my current profession as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Life Coach gives me a wealth of knowledge to help my clients by coaching them, counseling them and assisting them in becoming the (VIP) the very important person they have always been but couldn’t see due to the issues that have clouded their vision.
